I made the decision a couple months ago to open a restaurant. I started a thread about it but haven't updated in a while due to some delays in the process, nothing has really happened. We recently made tentative offers on two different locations, so hopefully I will have good news shortly. Currently I am an IT manager for a Technology Company which pays well but is really unrewarding in all other aspects.

See Chip, this is my dilemma too. My job as a construction manager pays well but I do not get any satisfaction from it at all.

I'd like to cruise and ride the coat tails of somebody who already made it.
I would be a great assistant for Jim Koch or Bobby Flay.
I could also be a fluffer.

I want to hit 'reset' on my entire life. What a fucking failure it's been.

I already did that this year. I gave up with cooking and now work with animals. I have not had a day of stress and love every second of work

i would like to change from teacher to celebrity...i could do that by having sex with one of my students, then i would be all over TV...but they arent attractive enough so I guess I would like to instead of being a criminal rapist celebrity, i would like to be a movie star...I am really a superb actress....just ask the guys who think that I wasnt using them for sex and money
but i would like to do something that involves me getting alot of attention...which might be why I became a teacher in the first place....its the Britney show all day long and my audience has to pay attention or they fail....id like to have a job where people pay attention bc they are actually interested in whatever it is that I am doing/saying/selling so by celebrity i supposed id like to be one of those gals who is a celebrity because she is a celebrity...then i could make sex tapes, music, movies, tv shows ...so maybe i would like to be a reality TV star who later continues to lead a life of fame and fortune

I certainly had a push to make the decision ... otherwise I might have stuck it out as well. I was basically made an offer I couldn't refuse ... it's still a VERY big risk financially, but it's exponentially better than the average person venturing out on their own. If it weren't for that I don't know if I would have had the balls.
That said ... I am REALLY sick of making rich people richer and not reap enough of the benefits.

I changed careers about two weeks ago, and am doing something i've dreamed of for quite some time. The pay cut is quite crazy, but my cost of living is literally more than half what it had been.
I moved out of new york which I thought I'd never do, but my job is awesome, and I hate it when I'm not there.

I would wanna be a porn director. acting is too much pressure and too much stop and start, as the director you get to try them out first.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm in the same boat.
Its rough trying to choose between making less money and happiness.

My flow of work went from Cook at an Italian Market when I was younger, to Manager of 2 Gamestop stores, IT Consultant for an Internet Service Provider, to Technology Integrator/System Administrator/Logistics Contractor for DoD and the Military, specifically the Transportation side (currently).
I'd love to stay in the Transportation industry/Tech Side, but slowly drift away from the Technology side. I'm so goddamn tired of keeping up with technologies like a jack-of-all trades.
Dream job would be to open a tiki bar or sand bar somewhere tropic, and cook exotic and weird foods and serve excellent drinks. Love cooking and making people feel happy and chill.
