View Full Version : Obese penalty proposed in Alabama

This story warms my nicotine-stained heart. I am sick and tired of smokers always being penalized for being "unhealthy". Now fatasses are going to be penalized as well if a proposal to make them pay extra in insurance costs passes in Alabama (http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2008/09/18/am.gupta.obese.penalty.cnn).

I love the woman who objects to this plan. No honey, you're NOT "lovely and sexy".

Anyone in NYC ever see the cable access show "Goddesses"? It's about all these overweight chicks who try to pretend they're hot and the guys who chase after them. It's a car wreck!

If you are sick of being penalized for being a smoker, wouldn't it make more sense to rally against this sort of penalty for people's lifestyle choices, rather than take a vindictive glee in the fact that more shall join you in your misery? Just sayin'.

Point taken. But in the meantime, I'm glad to see other sin taxes out there.

First they went after the recreational drug users.
Then they went for the drunk drivers.
Then it was the smokers.
Now it's fatties.

One way to look at it for an extra $250 a year you can be as fat as you want.

Why, are they trying to get into non-fatty cars?

Funny how no one ever questions the disparities in Car Insurance premiums when the insurance companies look at factors like your age, your driving record, the vehicle you drive, where you park it... etc.

Higher risk car owners pay higher insurance premiums, and no one complains. People seem to understand that the vehicle they choose, and how they drive, can affect the cost of their insurance. You wanna buy your reckless 18 year old kid a sports car, then that's your choice, but you pay the price.

Health Insurance tries to do the same thing, and here comes the outrage.

It's a fact that smoking and obesity lead to health problems and higher medical costs. You make these lifestyle choices, you should pay more.

No one is saying that you can't smoke or eat until your stomach's content. Just be prepared to pay more for it.

Hi A.J.!

I don't disagree with your stance.

But as a fat chick, I have to ask, "Who are you gonna fuck?"

Oh, that's right. NO ONE.

at least its possible for smokers and over weight people to change there lifestyles, so they won't have to pay for the extra insurance.
someone with a birthdefect doesn't have that option; they're lucky if they can get insurance at all.

I would keep a low profile. The non-fatty smoking section on ronfez.net will be a small one. Large people generally don't take too kindly to skinny people gloating over not having mounds of fat attached to their bodies.

It'll never pass.

The sheer numbers of electric wheelabout carts and decorative ponchos that descend on the State Legislature down there, each armed with a garbage bag full of popcorn, will be more pressure than that on a belt in a pair of size 52s
