What's a capo?

Capos were just people who were kidna bigger fans of Ron and Fez. I don't really remember how you became a Capo other than calling in and participating, but I do remember trying to spread the word about the show and the letter writing to keep them on the air.

Basically it was just an excuse for Ron and Fez to be very cool to their listeners and have people into the studio in groups of about 10 or so and watch the live show. Sometimes being on air, although I wasn't and had an amazing time watching Ron and Fez do their thing live.

I soooooooo agree with hippo here. I hate to admit it but I got a lot of laughs out of the shocking brutality that Ron set up. The only part that really irritated me was the hypocritical call from Baby Girl, telling new Lilly that she is nothing but a glorified listener. Meanwhile isn't Baby Girl essentially a groupie that started dating one of the roadies? Anyway the whole thing made for incredibly funny radio,

My problem with the Asian jokes during that now famous BGirl, Frenchy call in show was that, in my opinion, most of them weren't that good. Ant's jokes were especially boring and similar to what my grandpa would tell. Making a joke that plays on the word "chink" is so easy and really not that funny. I am all for edgy, cringe humor that would piss off Asian American groups. All I ask is that the jokes are funny.

That's what it's all about. Individual opinions. Some people think it was hilarious, some people think it was awful. Either way, the show wins.

I know some of you dont find some of the guests/callers/regulars/friends/listeners entertaining, and to some of you they are not welcome, and I truly understand that. Its a completely valid viewpoint. But to keep throwing insults at ANYONE just for the fact that they participate in a show that welcomes participation, I'll never understand. I have no problem with shitting on them for what they do and say-- just the whole calling them an attention whore thing really irritates me. Yea i know, beating dead horse, broken record, post too long, i'll shut up.

I, like many, do not find a few of the on air guests/callers/regulars/friends/listeners/douchebags to be the great to have to listen to and I'd really rather not have to when they come in study or call in. But it's not out of jealousy or not wanting anyone who isn't part of the show to have air time. It's that I don't find them to add ANYTHING at all to the show. They come of as instead wanting to get something from the show whether it's attention or whatever. That's my problem with them. Others i know feel the same and there are more that have their own reasons and a few have mentioned them already but I just hate it when I get to listen, which I don't get to most of the time, and one of these people bring the show to a freakin' screeching halt with their stupidity.

This is why I live an hour from NYC, don't go to gatherings and post here less and less. It's annoying high school drama and I have more important things to worry about. My time is valuable.

It's gotten a hell of a lot better though lately.

but where would you get the idea that nyers were ungrateful? i couldnt begin to tell you how absolutely grateful i am that both shows have been very kind to me. and i know many others that feel the same way as i do-- lucky to be welcome around such a brilliant group of people.

I have always been bothered by people that call in the show just to trash whoever is on the air - that is unless the pad data asks for opinions, or a member of the show says to call with your opinion.

And not to forget Jafter, Mikeyboy, BoneDaddy, Pauly and his sister - shit yeah, it was a great, great time back then - more than 3 years now (and for the record, I fell in love with R&F because of the WNEW era, so my sentimentality for WJFK here takes nothing away from that - it's just a personal experience thing) - what i liked especially how the people were there were really loyal to only the R&F Show (ok...and a little The Hideout) - i never felt that i was disloyal if i only listened, liked or supported Ron and Fez - it was kind of nice - any attention whoring (by the Circus or Don the Hypnotist, I guess) was done by people who really got the show and was made part of the show and was fun and was very welcome - the only exception that comes to mind was at the end with Tender - which seems kind of appropriate that it had to end there.

Shit, I forgot about the Capos. It was the one and only time I got into the studio. That was the essense of how Ron and Fez give back to their fans. There was a rotating bunch of people who got to come into their studio and observe how the show worked.

That is what makes the show cool.

The "Inside" fans back then were so much cooler too for whatever reason. People who just seemed happy to be cool with a great show but didn't let that fact go to their heads. No one counted the mentions they got and used that to rate themselves as more important than others.

Listening to it all, it seemed all in good fun, New Lily vs Original Lily, I sensed no intentional hatred going on, just some general button pushing, the illusion of territorial competition, the bit was fun.

I listen to recorded versions of the show so was able to listen to the show after having read this thread. That being said, I can't understand the "no intentional hatred going on" statement. Forget BG for one minute. It all started with OL with her usual venom and hatred directed at all (except R&F) who dare to question her exaggerated ego and self importance. You could hear the seething hatred in her voice during her tirade against NL. And later, you could hear the glee in her sniggering (white people are so scared...) laugh as NL was destroyed over and over, ad nauseun, by OL's defenders.

So OL is either one of the greatest actresses of all time or she truely enjoyed hurting NL. I have no opinion on NL other than she seems to be a little slow. As for NL leaving the show, I for one will not miss her. I can live without the constant "shes so adorable" and will be glad to not have to listen about her (again in her own mind) "giving the best BJs". In all honesty she can take her Vroom, Vrooms to greener pastures and good riddence.

As for BG, Frenchy and Ant:
that shit all ended when Babygirl called in and brought the high school bullshit drama and brought up some behind the scenes shit that she just so happened to be privy to, and then bringing out the whole cool kids factor of how she and original lily are invited to the most popular boy in school's house party and the freshman isn't allowed, so fucking childish, but of course we all love it because we love drama. How true that statement is. The only thing I would change is that personally, I did not "love it because we love drama". I don't like the shows that revert to hatred and bashing (i.e., OL and her defenders attack against BE's photo shoot). If I wanted that kind of, dare I call it "humor", I would be a fan of O&A or Bill O'Riely, not R&F. In my opinion, the biggest asshole for his call was Ant.
