This morning at work, I get detailed with this guy from another agency. All fine and dandy, except for the fact that he pretty much decides to tell me his entire life story within 5 minutes of meeting him. I have never seen this gentleman before in my life, and I don't really care that he used to work here 20 years ago, and that things used to be a certain way when he was there, and who he worked with, and what they did. It BUGS me to no end when people just go on and ramble like that about things I certainly could care less about. Its not like I can just tell him to shut up, I guess I have to be "nice" and nod and smile politely and try to get away so I don't hear any more stupid stories.

Stuff like that always bothers me...

They are people who have no one to talk to at home, so they bring that shit to work.

Yea, it's sad.

It bothers me when people misuse the phrase "I COULD'NT care less." Sorry, I'm in a smart ass mood this morning.

I totally know what you mean though. It's the worst at work because you are forced to interact with people you normally wouldn't. Sometimes you just have to smile and nod and pray the time ends soon.

There's an older woman that I work with that constantly talks about every little detail of her life as if it's so exciting. She repeats the same stories and has an inflated sense of self-importance. I can literally turn my back on her when I've had enough and she still doesn't shut up. She also likes to play up the fact that she's good friends with the Director, or so she says and so everyone puts up with her busy body mouth. :help:

You probably log more hours of therapy than a psychiatrist. Your tips probably are no compensation either. Drunks are the worst.

Why do people feel the need to unburden themselves to their bartender?

I have never understood that.

Yeah, but if it was Ralph Friedgen, you'd be all ears. "They kicked you out of the buffett? Then what happened?"

You should move to Philly to get away from it.

Well, we are serving depressants to the depressed.

Ideally you've got to match them up with someone else who's in the same world of shit.

For example:
"Sounds like you're going through a rough divorce... Jim over here just got over his... ain't that right, Jim?"

Get them commiserating and go have a celebratory pint with the guy who just hit the pick-4!:drunk:

I never went yapping to the Bartender, but I see the point..... You are depressed, want to drink, want someone to listen....Not my cup of tea but I understand it.

It's more like your barn silo filled with tea.

Alcohol always looses light-belt's lips and makes them wax poetic about stupid shit that matters to them because they're involved directly with it. Friend in college started to cry because he saw a fireplace in some picture in a store window and it reminded him of an ex. Same guy who likes to quote WWII generals and 'keeping a stiff upper lip'. He was probably lonely from pretending he was Nails4Brkfst69 and the drink got to him.

Jeezus I have a million stories of people acting like this... guy's just lonely. Try not to judge too harsh.

I get this all the time for some reason people in the South feel the need to tell you their life story no matter where you go whether it be the supermarket, a restaurant or any other place.

I usually give them that I don't care look.
