In talking about jinxes, Rom likes to say that America hates Philadelphia. I'm from NYC and by all rights I should be Philly hater. Problem is, I love Philly. How can you hate a place that is home to Cheesesteaks, and gave us the Roots and the original ECW?
I live in a city where there thousands of different options for celebrating New Year's Eve, yet 2 out of the last 4 years I've spent it in Philly (once at a Roots concert and once at Morimoto's).
My favorite Pearl Jam concert was the one I saw at the Wachovia Center.
I am here to end the perceived Philly hate.

On September 11th's Show right at the beginning of the 27th minute, Ron said "There is no such thing as a Jinx". They were talking about Jessica Simpson being a Jinx for Tony Romo. I don't know if anyone has mentioned that yet, but I just happened to be listening to an old show and heard that and thought I should post it. Maybe someone can isolate that and send it to them.

I don't believe in Jinxes either, unless we're talking about the Jets, Mets or Knicks. See how it works?

So you weren't among the masses cheering when Michael Irvin looked paralyzed? I hate the 'Boys as much as the next girl but come on.
If you didn't cheer for that or boo Santa then you might be able to get a pass.

If I wasn't a musician, I'd move there.

one thing about the santa booing thing: that santa was a last minute replacement, was skinny, dressed in a ragged costume, and was drunk. plus the fact that the eagles were getting their asses kicked on a miserable weather day, you would boo too.
I know all of this because my father-in-law was at that game.
it was over 40 years ago. what is the statute of limitations on this? when do we stop getting blamed for last generation's obnoxiousness?

I was not at that game Michael Irvin was hit.
And the whole "booing Santa"? That was in 1968. It was at Franklyn Field vs. Minnesota. It was a drunk 19 year kid with a fake beard who ran onto the field between the cheerleaders during halftime. Yea, he got booed and got snowballs thrown at him but he would have been booed everywhere else too (snowballed would depend geographically where).
So the whole "Booing Santa" thing? Doesn't speak to a whole.
Michael Irvin? He wasn't a nice guy. The fans weren't all doctors so couldn't have been aware of the severity. But no matter, that's the game and not the only other classless taunting that would define a city's "fans".

There's Philly fans and then there's Philly Eagles fans - big difference.
Philly fans are smart about the game they are watching. They boo situations or managing decisions NOT people. We love players who work hard, even if they don't do well. If we see you not putting in an effort, we'll let you know we expect more.
Judging all Philly fans by Eagles fanatics is not fair. There are crazed Eagles fans who go into another realm of consciousness during an Eagles game. That's a whole different culture - good or bad, it's honest!
Philly is the greatest city for music in the world. Bowie fell in love with it, changed his music style and influenced countless musicians who came after him. Jazz, rock, rap, soul, punk - the list is endless. The Mummers on Broad Street is a wonderful, drunken event unlike anything else in the world.
There are places I love to visit, but I could never imagine living anywhere else. (even though I live an hour outside of the city now).
I fell in love with Ron & Fez when I heard Ron's accent. It's great to hear someone talk about a Philly experience with the honestly and humor that he does. Genius.

I have never heard anyone sum up how it feels to be a fan from Philly like Ron. "It's an awful feeling to have hope." That made me smile all weekend.
Pure genius.
If you hate Philly or it's fans....don't worry we hate you back. And we'll kick your dog.

I'm born and raised almost entirely in NY, and I love Philly!
It is a great city, great suburbs, close to everything, maybe I don't agree with the part of the Jersey Shore that they go to visit, but Philly is an awesome place.
Oh, and who doesn't want to be on Broad street watching the mummers parade on the first, followed only by the biggest shit-show in the northeast on 2 street when they bring the party to south Philly.
