Ok, we're waiting to dot the i's and cross the t's on the contract for the X-Mas party, but people keep asking if there's a party and when it will be, so this is the preliminary scheduling post to let you all know the party is on and we'll announce location this week (it'll be posted in thread and this post edited)

Yeah. When I was under 21 and couldn't sneak into events, I hung outside. About half the people stay out there anyway cause it gets really noisy indoors and there's a lot of smokers. If you got a warm jacket, you should come anyway. You'll have a good time.

I'm not sure where in Cali you are flying from, but when you fly into NY, definitely fly into JFK. More times, closer to the city, and cheaper. I don't know what you budget is so it depends on what you call cheap or expensive. Also, do you have friends you can stay with or are you looking into hotel prices too?

You have a whole month, so the sooner you buy the cheaper it will be. And I always recommend Jetblue (they aren't on expedia, but honestly are the best service) for flying. Check them out and see what's doable.

Laguardia is like a 15-20 minute cab ride. JFK is at least 45 minutes from midtown.
And the 7 goes near Laguardia, but you'd have to take a bus. The M60 goes into Manhattan.

From JFK, the Airtrain will drop you at the LIRR in Jamaica, the A, E, J, or Z.
It's cheap and easy, but any of those would take at least 45 minutes, too.

The Airtrain is effectively the Monorail. It's really no big deal.

The hardest thing is making sure you get on the eastbound train so you get into NY-Penn, rather than ending up in Trenton. *shiver*

Yes, there's a surcharge at EWR, but since most people in NJ drive anyway, the surcharge figures out to be a LOT less than you'd spend on parking if you did drive...plus it's more relaxing than dealing with the yahoos who take 81 and 1/9. You'd think they'd all stopped at the Budweiser factory on their way up!

I don't know if anyone else is interested, but I'm thinking of ways to stay out for this and not have to drive.

For example, a 10 passenger car/van/limo thing to leave from the bar at say 4am'ish to cart people home for 4 hours is around $350. If you get 10 people, that's $35 a person for a safe ride home (pretty much what I'd pay in tolls/parking).

So people could train it in, then not have to worry about making that evil 2AM train back (or have to wait until 6AM for the next one)

This wouldn't work unless you get 10 people, anyone interested in something like that?
