fucking apparently.
He fucking gets it.
Coleman lead shrinks to +120 over Franken with 64% of the vote counted. That's a net shift of 95 votes since the start.
The key thing to come out of today, is how huge the number of challenges are getting. Coleman has challenged 582 ballots, Franken has challenged 487.
It's difficult to tell who the challenged ballots will favor, although most ballots challenged have come from heavily Democratic counties.
But, that does not necessarily mean a plus for Franken. So it's difficult to tell.
This will absolutely be decided by the challenged ballots, though.

Norm Coleman currently leads by 2 votes. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28303780/)
Sen. Norm Coleman saw his lead over Al Franken in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race dwindle to just two votes Thursday. Meanwhile, a key court ruling put hundreds of improperly rejected ballots in play and promised the recount would drag into the new year.

Thank god.
The prospect of Senator Franken is too good to pass up. I may have a reason to watch C-Span now.
We'll see if holds up, though.

You had to see this coming: Coleman was throwing out some pretty wacky-ass challenges. I think he was hoping that he could tie this thing up and Franken wouldn't be able to fight.
The Democratic Party is less willing to get screwed out of elections these days, however.

In comparison, yes. But the party really isn't as tough as the republicans yet. Its sort of like we used to get beat up for our lunch money on a daily basis and take it. Now we tell the principal.
One day we'll throw a punch..........
Franken now up by 48 votes. (http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/senate/36589859.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD 3aPc:_Yyc:aUac8HEaDiaMDCinchO7DU)
Franken up 225 with recount complete; focus turns to court (http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/senate/37047159.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD 3aPc:_Yyc:aUac8HEaDiaMDCinchO7DU)
Al Franken won an impressive share Saturday of what may be the last ballots tallied in the U.S. Senate recount, boosting his unofficial lead over Sen. Norm Coleman to 225 votes heading into a Monday meeting where the state Canvassing Board will certify the final result of the race.
At least two things, however, still stand in the way of Franken becoming Minnesota's newest U.S. senator: the possibility of a ruling by the Minnesota Supreme Court that more wrongly rejected absentee ballots should be counted, and a legal contest that Coleman attorneys all but promised should Franken prevail.
Despite Senator Coleman's claims, it appears as though Al Franken will be the newest Senator from the wacky State of Minnesota.

The Minnesota Supreme Court won't rule in favor of Coleman.
I don't know if this type of case has legs to get the U.S. Supreme Court or not, but if Franken gets certified, it's pretty much akin to the 'possession is 9/10ths of the law' phrase.
It's very, very, very difficult to find a court that will freeze or overturn certification of an election.
I'm looking forward to the impending O'Reilly meltdown, though.
Coleman Fakes a Website Crash (http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=8321975&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1)
The Norm Coleman campaign said a searchable database of disenfranchised voters crashed the ColemanForSenate.com website on Wednesday.
The Al Franken campaign told FOX 9 the crash was faked, pointing to an explanation on mnpublius.com.
Could Minnesota please end this shit? Seriously we all know that Franken won....just send him to Washington.

Franken asks high court to act quickly
By KEVIN DUCHSCHERE, Star Tribune
April 21, 2009
Al Franken asked the Minnesota Supreme Court today to hear Norm Coleman's election contest appeal as quickly as possible.
A day after Republican Coleman appealed last week's trial decision awarding the U.S. Senate election to Franken, lawyers for the DFLer this morning filed a motion proposing that the Supreme Court hear oral arguments as soon as two weeks from now.
"Because of the important public policy concern of ensuring that the interests of the citizens of Minnesota are properly represented in Congress, this appeal should be expedited," Franken lawyer David Lillehaug says in the motion.
Franken is asking that Coleman deliver the trial transcript to the high court no later than Wednesday and that Coleman provide his brief in the case by Monday.
Franken's opposition brief would be ready by May 2, Lillehaug says, clearing the way for Coleman's reply brief by May 4 and oral arguments "very shortly after the reply brief is submitted."
In response, Coleman spokesman Tom Erickson said: "We're happy to do whatever the court ultimately sets as its schedule ... If the court decides those are great deadlines, we'll do everything in our power to meet them."
Lillehaug notes in the motion that the Supreme Court has a history of quickly addressing matters in the election.
The high court returned decisions on Coleman's petitions on absentee ballots and duplicate ballots within six and five days, respectively. Although the court took longer to turn down Franken's request for a provisional election certificate, it adopted an expedited briefing schedule in that matter, Lillehaug says.

Remember...Norm Coleman is the guy who DEMANDED that Al Franken not impede the process by seeking a recount, the day after election night, when he thought he was winning.
But since he lost the lead...here we are...oh...five months later...
Norm Coleman hates America.
Minnesota is closer to having both Senators: Supreme Court rules 5-0 in favor of Franken. (http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/senate/49520987.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD 3aPc:_Yyc:aU1yDEmP:QMDCinchO7DU)
The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled today that Democrat Al Franken won the U.S. Senate election and said he was entitled to an election certificate that would lead to him being seated in the Senate.
"Affirmed," wrote the Supreme Court, unanimously rejecting Republican Norm Coleman's claims that inconsistent practices by local elections officials and wrong decisions by a lower court had denied him victory.
However they didn't order Pawlenty to sign the election certification. Which can put him in a no-win situation should Coleman decide to continue to litigate this. he risks pissing off the Republican base which he needs for his Presidential bid if he signs it, and he risks looking like a hyper-partisan to everyone else should he not sign it.

As we were discussing in the other, now locked after 4 years, thread, this gives Obama complete control over the senate. No longer will anyone be able to oppose him. With the courts soon to be under his control as well it means one man has dominance over all three branches of government. Add that in to the way he's slowly taking over the private sector and how the fed now serves him, we have a situation in which one man rules every single aspect of American life with no ability for anyone to stop him.

Second, now you're no dropping the repeal of the 22nd Amendment shit, and going for something even more absurd?

22nd amendment is only a matter of time, Obama's will is being made law every day and soon he will no longer want to restrain himself by term limits.
I thought of his control over all three houses between that threat and this, and that's even scarier than having Obama president until death some many decades from now.

Yes, and justices usually will not retire until their party has the presidency.
