My in-laws said, in no uncertain terms, that they would not vote for someone other than a white person. I doubt they are the only people in the US that hold these sentiments. I'd like to think that people voted for whom they thought would do the best job, but for some of those people race is a factor. Frankly, I like when the racists are vocal and upfront about their beliefs, because it makes them easier to avoid.

Oh I have no doubt that some white people did that just like some blacks voted for the first time in their life this time, its not as big a deal for me and I dont think that was the deciding point in the election.

I remember hearing that the black vote was 50/50 on Prop 8. Just like Obama, though, black people are easily trounced by the white vote and can't decide an election on their own. So even if it was 75/25, you still can't blame them

What was the Latino turnout and results? It is California, and Latinos for the most part tend to vote conservatively on social issues.

couple of facts:

1) I'm not taking sheepy's or gvac's side on this.

2) I'm livid with Gvac that he'd bring me (and liz??) into a fight he's got with sheepy. I think the thing that really gets under my skin is calling me "phony". There's a TON of things you can call me that I'd readily agree with. But "phony"? Dude, come on.

3) Calling Sheepy self-centered is a JOKE. The kid busted his ass moving stuff into my house. And he HATES me.

You were only mentioned in passing, more as a tag line. You weren't anywhere near the focus. It is primarily Gvac v. Sheepy.

Just clarifying in case you misunderstood my joke.

Reminds me of something I read in the book "The Miracle of Mindfulness." It talks about a man who saw time with his kids as time that subtracted from his "me time." And he knew it was negatively affecting his life and his relationship with his kid.

The monk who wrote the book suggested looking at that time as "me time." So redefine what you mean by "me time" and you'll appreciate the time with your kids more, and not resent them.

It certainly helped me a lot in my relationships with my wife and kids.

If a Civil Union had exactly the same legal standing as a Marriage then I don't think there would be any trouble with it. Civil Unions currently don't have the same status and do not carry from state to state, so they are not legally the same as a Marriage. Make them of equal legal standing and probably only the hardcore "it has to be marriage or nothing" people would complain.

Oh Im not disagreeing with that, my point was that black people are very religious even though they vote democratic and will most likely vote against topics that go against religion. My main bitch about democratic candidates is that they view the black church as a photo op.

Its the whole phoniness of politics that bother me and its not just one side both are phony, we should all be sick of it by now but instead I see people driving around with obama plags on their car like hes a college team to cheer for and it sickens me. my dad stayed until i was a senior in high school. it was great to have him around but i also saw evidence of his cheating and watched two people who didn't love eachother live together for 18 years.

so staying "for the kids" is not always the best decision, IMHO.

not to pry, but did your mom know he was cheating? did they have an"understanding"? just curious: I have a friend whose father stayed around until his younger sister graduated high school. he and his wife had an understanding that he could screw around all he wanted provided he stuck around until then, and that he keep it discreet.

If you're the whipping boy here, it's because you often make illogical statements or baseless factual assertions. People can't believe the stuff you say.

Having said that, since this is the listening thread, how about we talk about the show? If you want to talk about the politics of religion, we have boards for that.

Yeah it started that way on the gay marriage topic, it just morphed into that.

And I am pretty sure that they are just going along with the bit, if they think rons against gay marriage then they must be new listeners.

I guess you could raise a kid to be gay.

Some are, and you can tell when they make the ridiculous slippery slope arguments. But most yesterday weren't going with the bit. They called it arguing seriously against it and said Ron, I agree with you etc.

Especially that one guy who was practically crying and asking Fez why the gays couldn't let the christians have marriage all to themselves.

How dumb are these callers that think that Ron is actually against gay marriage?

Not true (http://www.videohelp.com/dvd).

DVD stands for Digital Versatile/Video Disc,

And here (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=990CEEDA143CF932A25752C0A9639582 60)

And because, initially at least, the digital videodisk will be a "read only" medium that cannot be recorded upon or easily copied, entertainment and software companies see the format as a valuable way to protect their copyrights.

Originally, it was Ditigal Video Disc, but when you could store other info on it, it became Ditigal Versatile Disc.
