I hear they played dodgeball later at that summit and Bush got picked last.

One of the most underrated amendments, and one we should all be thankful for right about now, is the Twentieth Amendment. It moved the Inauguration up to Jan. 20th from March 4th.

In short, it's sparing us about a month and a half of Bush. Thank you 20th Amendment!

I caught that too. It seemed to be a combo of Bush being a douche and not offering his hand while nobody on the dais wanted to shake it anyway.

Having a new Presidential regime in place certainly can't hurt the standing of the US in world politics.

They really have been overlooked as one of the great post-grunge bands.

I voted against the guy two times. I don't like him, I think he's incompetent, and is an embarassment.

And given the above, and that he's a lame duck, he's still the president of my country. Show some respect to his country and shake the hand of the leader of our country.

Part of the blame clearly belongs with him, since it doesn't appear to be even trying to shake anyone's hand, but at least someone should make the effort.

I disagree; just because he is the President of the United States doesn't mean that he deserves respect - not at this point anyway.

I agree that there should initially be respect for the office, but we are 8 years past that. Bush has proven to be a poor leader and has alienated many of the other world leaders. The respect they might have had for the office and his position dried up many years ago. It actually makes more sense (IMO) that they snub Bush because the other world leaders are showing clear displeasure with the current regime.

In other words, as citizens of the United States we may still owe our allegiance to President Bush but the rest of the world doesn't have any such responsibility to "play nice."

That's what I love about ronfez.net, I am always learning something new. I had no idea that the 20th Amendment moved the inauguration up. Holy shit, March 4th? Now when someone asks me if I am more of a First or Second Amendment type of person, I can say I am usually a First fan but this year I am thanking Baby Jesus for the 20th.

They all shook hands before this photo-op. This wasn't a snub.
