I sometimes feel guilty for.........

I sometimes feel guilty for not picking up hitchhikers when its really cold outside or really hot. I live in alabama and sometimes i stop and give them a ride. I barely crack my truck window and ask em how far they are going and let them know how far i can take them. I always lay down the ground rules and if they look to skanky i make em ride in the bed of my pickup truck. I have been doing it for years and never had a problem. I live in alabama and a relatively small town. I always tell them not to cause trouble because i am armed and i will not tolerate any horseshit or shanigans. Sometimes when im running late i dont stop and give them a ride either north or south on the interstate. I feel good when i can help people out and most of them are very thankfull for the help. If the person seems incoherent or gives me the creeps i dont let them ride or i put them in the back of the bed of the truck. Sometimes people are down on their luck and need help. I feel guilty when i dont have time to stop and give someone a lift. I know its a different world these days but i feel like helping people out when their down on there luck is a good thing to do. I have been stranded before and i know how it feels. Any feedback?
