There have been a lot of REALLY good Christmas ads this year, including Macy's "Believe" ad, but this series of Lexus ads are so infuriating to me that I had to start a thread.

The concept of the ad is that childhood memories of Christmas of the best presents you ever got are being replaced with memories of getting a Lexus - and not even a new Lexus, but a pre-owned one!

I'm really sorry, but unless Carroll Shelby himself is standing in my driveway Christmas morning, there is not a chance in the world that a new car will replace the memories I have growing up and the presents I got as a kid. It just doesn't work.

I've never understood the Christmas car commercials. They would work if it was the parents or grandparents buying a kid their first car, but when it's the (inevitably) husband buying the wife a car all I can think of is the arguments that would have ensued when I was married if I had suddenly put our family another thirty grand in debt...or not gotten her input into the style/color/brand/etc.

It hides the Camry logos they forgot to remove.

Yeah, how big can the market be for rich bastards buying fancy cars as Christmas gifts anyway - especially this year with the economy in the toilet? Those commercials suck and make me feel somehow inadequate

Yeah, I always think the same thing whenever I see those commercials. "Merry Christmas! We get to pay for this for the next five years!"

QFT, but I'm more the Optimus Prime memory, or the dirt bike memory, or the GI Joe Hovercraft memory. My parents rule.

Holy shit yeah, those commercials are the fuckin' worst. I've always found Lexus commercials pretentious, but their holiday commercials are godawful.

I hate any car ad where some yuppie cocksucker gives their spouse a 40,000 dollar car
