View Full Version : Physician, Heal Thyself
On today's show a caller asked what to do about an alcoholic parent that continued to drink even after being locked up after his third DUI. Fez said that since the caller was an adult and didn't need this parent to take care of him, he should distance himself from the alcoholic if he's bringing pain into his life.
Ron pointed out that even though this was great advice, Fez doesn't follow it himself. Even though his parents cause him great stress and anxiety, Fez still goes home to Florida every chance he gets and puts himself under all kinds of pressure because of them.
I guess it's something we all do; we know the solution to a problem and will even offer it when someone asks us, but we don't practice it ourselves.
What's the greatest example of you not practicing what you preach?

Take any advice I've ever given on this board and I guarantee you I do the opposite

Great thread topic Gvac. However, it's 2am, and I'm way too not in the mood for introspection at this time o' day. I'll give a better report later.

When it comes to things like love and personal challenges, I always find many reasons why they should just "go for it with all you have". Then I go retreat to my routine.

Mr. Vac you always start the greatest threads (save for a few exceptions).
"Practive what you preach"
"Do as I say, not as I do"
These phrases are universally known and understood for good reason because as humans, we can all relate.
I guess I'm guilty of dishing out the advice, yet not always heeding my own. It's just so much easier to give good advice when you're sitting on the sidelines with a very objective view, unaffected by the emotions and consequences of said advice.
