I signed up for both McCain's and Obama's eMail lists during the campaign.
McCain stopped sending me stuff by Obama did not and he is still asking for donations.
Why? Is he in dept from the campaign? Didn't he sell the Hope Diamond?
Did Bush, Clinton and Bush ask for donations before they took office?

I'm buying him a dog.
I'll try to explain this one as best I can.
McCain's campaign is over and done. Senator McCain's brand is ruined as he lost and raising money is not a priority. He has paid the bills and raising money for the party & other candidates is not his problem.
I get all of the mailers and emails from Obama & at this point he using his name or brand for party groups...a majority of which are the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Committee or helping Senator Clinton to pay her bills. Between now and 2012 he'll have plenty of time to fundraise for himself and he'll do quite well.

Today's email is fundraising for:
Official Presidential Inaugural Committee (https://donate.pic2009.org/page/contribute)
In their words:
Just like the Obama campaign, we're not accepting donations from PACs, federally registered lobbyists, or corporations. Your support will be crucial to helping us make these events open to as many people as possible as we commemorate the day Barack Obama takes office as the 44th President of the United States.
Done on the same email server with the same format as the Obama campaign.

He's also running for Canadian Prime Minister
Apparently they've raised $9.7 million for the Inauguration. Not too shabby.

Do presidents usually collect money for inagururation?
I'm curious. I don't know if this is standard practice.

I think it's paid for by the campaign and by the president's party, in this case, the DNC.
epo?

Stop right there. That's where you went wrong.

Yes. There are various parties thrown by various groups. The official group is the one that has access to Obama's mailing list which is the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Other groups also get in the act and are the $50K per donation types.
