so i was driving home from work today. after safely driving through the icy conditions this morning, and driving home through the rain, i was about 2 blocks from my house, when:

A F@CKIN' GYPSY CAB SIDE-SWIPED MY CAR!!!!

good news: neither he, nor i, nor anyone else was hurt, and my car is still drivable.

bad news: he scratched the sh!t out of the driver-side of my car and put a nasty dent in my driver-side front door.

then this prick tried to act like i was the one that ran into him!!! :furious: i was passing him on the right, and he tried to change lanes when i was half-way past him. there's an imprint of where the corner of his front passenger side bumper smashed into my driver side door! unless i had some bizarro car with the wheels turned 90-degrees, and i was driving down the street crab-style, it's physically impossible that i'm the one who hit him!

it took about 3 hours for the police to show up so i could get an accident report. when they finally got there, i gave the officer my version of what happened, then waited patiently as they got the cab driver's version. i saw him point to a pre-existing dent near the rear of his car and say that that was part of the damage to his car. i overheard the officer tell him that it did not appear to be new damage. the f@ckin prick was trying to lie to the officers taking the report, but it appears that they didn't believe him. f@cking lying prick a$$hole gypsy cab driver!!!

long story short, it took me 5 hours from the time i left work until the time i got home, my car's all scratched and dented up, and i have to go down to the precinct in a few days so i can get the Police report so i can file a claim against this idiot!

Merry F@ckin' Christmas!!! :furious::furious::furious:

Is Gypsy the name of the company or are you making light of the driver's ethnicity?

(don't make you a bad person if you are...)

'Gypsy cab' is slang for the non-yellow-cabs in nyc. Technically, they're called "Livery cabs". they're only authorized to take fares by reservation, not pick up fares in the street, although this guy tried to pick up a street fare AFTER he hit me (before he realized that i was calling the police to file an accident report)!!!

for the record, the driver appeared to be Indian (sub-continent, not native-american).

i should mention, this was not on a highway. we were on a local street. he was standing still behind two cars that were in the intersection waiting to turn left onto a one-way street. both of the other cars had their left-blinkers on. he didn't, yet he was standing there waiting with no blinkers. so either he was planning to turn left and wasn't using his blinker, or he had no idea what he was doing and just tried to hit the gas to try to merge to the right without looking where he was going.

either way, my car was halfway past him when he hit me, and he smashed into my driver-side door, so he was definitely at fault.

:furious:

another bit of good news: (albeit 2 hours late) i enjoyed a nice night out at a japanese restaurant with some friends when all was said and done...
