Horde king. You seem to know a lot. What's normal? I've been going through this with other people, But I'm looking to become more normal. What's a day in your life like?

asking message boarders what's considered normal is like asking Nazis to write down good qualities of Jews.

Mr. Webster would tell you that normal is according with, constituting, or not deviating from a norm, rule, or principle.
Mr. Gump would say that normal is as normal does, Capt'n. Dan.
Gary of Gatoradia says that you're already normal in the sense that you require the same needs as do other carbon-based life forms.
After that, it's all pretty much subjective.
If you were Amish, you'd be abnormal for simpy being online and reading this.
What's nornal in New York, might be abnormal in Tennessee.
What's normal in Tennessee would certainly be abnornal in Afghanistan.
And what's normal in Afghaistan right now, was anything but just a few short months ago.
Yes, we can all agree that eating ones own poo or beating up on an innocent foozeball tabels isn't quite right, but those are extreme examples.... most of us live somewhere in between the stepford world of picket fences with 2.4 perfect chilen and what could be universally labeled as abnormal.
Anyway, it's late and I'm babbling. In short, don't be normal, be yourself.
But what do I know, I write in purple. ;-)

There is nothing normal... normal is a state of being.
What exactly are you referring to leg?

There's good reason you don't know.
Although we've been fairly successful in describing what is "abnormal," there has never been a consensus on how to define "normal." Even among white, middle class, college educated, white males (always considered the norm) there is much behavior that doesn't quite fit into a catagory of pathology yet is undoubtedly "weird." Some abberent nono-pathological behavior can be explained in terms of culture, religion, community and social class.
I'll use religion as an easy example. Orthodox Jews don't eat dairy for 6 hours after meat. It's anathema to them. Many educated Christians fully cognizant of basic biology believe that Mary was impregnated by God. In both examples, the belief or action is perfectly normal among that particular group. Outside observers (not part of the religious club) look upon these ideas as silly or even delusional.
In short normalcy, as we understand it, must be filtered through, not only the actual behavior or belief, but in the context in which it is performed.
That's a short answer that does not go into the real question of whether than even can be a "normal" standard, given the inherrently subjective viewpoint of our individual realities.

In a nutshell...you are all weird, and I am completely normal. Got it? ;)
