i feel cheated when people hand me cards. mail those fuckers. its the surprise and anticipation of receving physical mail, rather than just be handed a card in an envelope.

anyone else?

discuss.

Cards are a great scam. They've duped an entire nation into feeling guilty if they don't give a $3 paper to other people on certain days that look different on a calendar. To me, Hallmark is only fractionally better than Disney as a horseshit company. The only thing I think of when I receive one is "rube", regardless of postage.

Wow. I reread that and I sound like a bitter old curmudgeon.

Cards suck, email is where it's at. We are such an impersonal society now, hell we do not even sit down and write letters in ink anymore (for the most part).

Speak for yourself, hoss. I'm writing letters on the regular. And might I add, if we believe we are impersonal society, then we are. However, you do have a choice in the matter. Just try talking to people you don't know, aside from being surprised, they're often times happy to talk.

Envelopes should be handed over, cash should never be sent through the mail. If there's no cash in the card, why are you even bothering me with it.

Agreed.

I was never one to send out cards, and i stopped feeling guilty about receiving them for whatever occasion a long time ago. I mean, if its to someone on the other side of the country/planet whom you dont see regularly, then i suppose thats ok. But when i get a card from people i see on a near regular basis, i am more confused than grateful. Maybe thats just me.
