Been smoke free (again) since August. I decided not to take my old habits to my new house. I feel like a new woman!

Keep it up!

I can't say I don't get cravings anymore, but between how good I feel and the money I'm saving I get passed it real easy...

Plus it's nice to hold my son and not smell like an ashtray.

I'm trying to quit but every time I get in my car I want to have one. I guess driving and smoking go together. Besides, my car stinks. Can't buy a new one right now. Any advice on how to get the stink out would be appreciated. Thanks.

shampoo the seats and air out well, on a cold winter day leave the windows down and do the same all summer.

keep a box of gum, the big 60 count containers work well with cup holders and you never have to search for them, grab one every time you intend to light up.

Congratulations! I was down to about two cigarettes a day several months ago. But then it shot back up to almost a pack a day.

Bump

So I'm 8 days into my latest stop smoking attempt.

I've seriously tried to quit maybe 6 or 8 times before.
Last year I made it 6 months and swore I had it beat.

Last night it was raining so I grabbed my gore tex when I
was locking up the shop.
Today I'm looking for my keys and dig into the jacket pocket
and find an old pack of Marlboro Mediums, 4 cigarettes in the pack.

A full 10 minutes of rationalization:

Just throw them away.

Smoke them. 4 is the perfect number. Have one - get the head rush.
Have a beer or 3 and smoke the rest. Monday start the stopping again.

Put them away. I don't need them now but I might someday. Maybe I'll become
one of those people that just smoke one and a while but don't really need it.
Maybe I can maintain.

I ended up tossing them. Shredding them in my fingers so I'm not digging
through the trash at 2 AM in some moment of complete failure.

Fuck. This does get easier someday ???

I've pretty much quit smoking for about 2 months now. I broke 2 times and had 1 cigarette in time of stress, but after smoking for over 15 years, I think that's not too bad.

I still have to see what happens next time I go out to a bar, that's going to be the worst.

Almost 1 year quit. I'd be lying if i said I didn't get cravings every now and then. But it gets a hell of a lot easier to dismiss the cravings.

Plus when I think of the money I save, not smelling like smoke, and not having the obligation of having to run out to buy a pack when I'm running low.

Attempting to quit to quit this week. Once I get through the few smokes i have left in my pack I'm done. This past weekend I was on vacation and I really limited my smoking. I let the one pack I had last 2 1/2 days then had none the following 2 days and it felt great and was ready not to buy another pack. Then my flight home (I'm nervous about flying as it is) was the worst/roughest ride I had ever been on and my nerves were frazzled and needed a smoke so broke down and picked up a pack.

With the pack around I smoked a few and realized they just make me feel like shit. So I've decided to stop. Being at work is going to be the toughest part about quitting. I'm isolated by myself with very little to do very late at night. I would have a cig to try to break up the night and try to use the nic as a small pick me up when getting drowzy.

I know this is going to be difficult, but I know I can do it.

my problem is when i drink.....still haven't bought a pack, but when i drink i'll steal a drag or a smoke from a friend. i've gotta figure out a way to get past that too, although i'm usually able to last a good many drinks before REAALLLLY wanting one. still though, that one cig or those couple of drags make me feel like shit the next day both physically and mentally. sux.

Its been 13yrs. since I had a cigarette and most of my friends have quit as well. Their are
still a few holdouts that just cannot quit. They talk about try for a day but go back. That nicotine is a mother fucker.
I had a client who besides smoking was almost 4 bills in wt. needless to say he wasn't the picture of health. He is now waiting to die in a hospital bed, his liver is done and his lungs are filled with small cell cancer that are spreading through his body.

from the day I quit I stopped having cravings which is very odd. But yes you definitely notice the smell and how bad its is. They say former smokers are the worst when it comes to bitching about smoking and the smell. Ironic!

i go to a 12 step meeting that has smoking,i can't fucking stand the smell of my clothes when i leave now

I bought a phone on ebay and when it arrived and I opened the box I couldnt believe the smoke smell that hit me right in the face. The phone didnt smell but the box did and so did the phones protective rubber/gel case. I received it yesterday and its sitting on my desk and the smell is so strong.

I never realized how much smoke made clothes and everything smell. I guess when you smoke it doesnt bother you or is barely noticeable. I notice it now and even more so then lots of my non smoking friends.

I hit the 2 year mark a couple of months back, I'm hoping this time it sticks. Are you cold turkey or are you using crutches ? The combo of the patch to sustain and gum/lozenge for the cravings worked for me. What's your previous record ? It took me 7 or 8 real tries.
