Something about the idea of soy makes me nervous. I guess I associate beans with gas, and I assume that soy will cause me to need to "excuse myself" and this turns my appitite off. Does anyone make or use soy in ways that disproves this? What can you do with it? I know some people use it as a meat substitute. What about soy makes it a substitute for meat? Protien?

Not everyone's into tofu, but I've treated it like meat (marinated & grilled, baked, sauted, etc.) and it can also be used in smoothies instead of ice cream or another protein (use the soft texture, silken style) ... if you have issues with texture, don't bother trying it in a saute. It's a kind of chewy, spongy texture that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Some studies have found benefits for cardiovascular health in some cases, but there have also been concerns about the effects of soy on male hormones.

If beans give you gas, take Bean-o. It really does work.

Why were you considering consuming more soy?

Why are you wanting to get into soy?

Just for the protien. Buy some supplement.

Yes.

I like to simmer mine with coconut milk, lots of curry, turmeric, a little ginger, some salt, until some of the coconut simmers out and it's not all soupy but just wonderfully marinated and delicious.
