So there is a guy that I work with who has limited knowledge of basball and he decided to say that it is easier to pitch a perfect game in baseball that to have a shutout in hockey. My first reaction was to laugh my second was to call somebody else to laugh with me. So lets get some opinions on this. I am going to hang up now and you can discuss it.

Since Martin Brodeur has more shut outs by himself than major league baseball has perfect games, I would say perfect game is harder

Perfect game. Not even close.
Hitting a home run off of an MLB pitcher is also the single hardest thing one can do out of the "big 4" sports here.

That could honestly be the dumbest argument I have ever heard.

Very stupid.
You should fire that guy. He probably doesn't even like famous pants.

By limited knowledge of baseball, do you mean never seen a game ever?
If you want to actually shove this asshole's stupidity in his dumb face, just tell him the feat has been achieved only 17 times in major league history and there have been way more than that just this season in the NHL.
Then, kick him to death.

Perfect game is much more difficult; shut outs in Hockey are a dime a dozen.

I can only assume he meant to compare a shut out in hockey to a shut out in baseball.
but what would you say if a goalie got a hat-trick?

There are shutouts all of the time in hockey. That's why nobody watches. There's no scoring.
Don't get me wrong, I love hockey.

wikipedia claims there have only ever been 17 perfect games in mlb history. I thought it was more like 25 or 26, but either way it's WAY fewer than shutouts in hockey.

Wow. I am so glad that Jonnie started this and he is on the side of a perfect game.
If this was a legit discussion by someone, I was sooooo ready to flame the shit out of him/her.

The only sport where a shut out would be harder than a perfect game is basketball. That would be impressive.
*** Note: the only thing I consider to be "basketball" is NBA.

i was wondering: is it harder to hit 3 free throws in a row, or pitch 3 perfect games in a row???

Now this is just crazy talk. Obviously it is the free throws. No one could hit three in a row!
