On October 23, 2007, WYSP in Philadelphia cut Opie and Anthony from their line-up in favor of rock music, which the station had changed formats to a month prior.

On December 1, 2008, Opie and Anthony were taken off the air at WBCN in Boston as well as WKRK-FM in Cleveland.

On December 29, 2008, WZNE announced on air that Opie and Anthony would no longer be syndicated on their station.

What you et. al don't seem to grasp is that as a listener you have a choice to not continue to patronize the program. That you think some of their content is hysterical then make the decision if there's enough of it to continue listening through the rants.

Yeah, they were......replaced. Because they were underperforming in those markets. Now as an admitted "newer" listener, you most likely don't remember when O&A were GAINing new markets every other week. A lot of that was done through a little thing called, Syndication Underground. Today thier content is so lame they couldn't gain enough fans for syndication underground.

Heres a Fox News Alert for you: If they lose all the markets and Mel runs Sat Radio into the ground then O&A have no one to work for. Do you think that people in these Threads are not long time loyal O&A Listeners? If we think the show is hurt by Ants rants and general "not giving a shit" stance then a lot more then us feel the same way.

I've never wanted them to fail - their success immediately impacts R&F, which is what I care about.

That said, they and their fans set themselves up, with the stunts, the lies, the attacks, the lazy content - and I think it's completely fair to comment on it, even on a message board with fans and friends of theres.

I was just frustrated by more of the same defense from the hard-cores - bragging about being on in NYC or 202 or being bigger than it all and if you are critical then you are simply jealous - hell, I was half expecting someone to boast that they were relevant because of the Today Show WOWing or when the pests got on the news for blowing air horns in reporters ears - everyone has moved on - the arguments have changed - the knee jerk defenses need to change too - you just look as crazy and as out of touch bragging that the reason they are so great is because they are millionaires, because (it stands to reason) they are millionaires because they are paid a lot of money because people love them, and being critical means you are a hater...

I didn't dismiss your opinion or call anyone a hater (people can judge for themselves) Dave's Cackle made a declarative statement that O&A were insignificant in the radio industry .. both of you are welcome to your opinions. I just disagreed with both of you and backed up my opinions with facts (who's screaming??) and I still stand by it.

Me and GAZ are psychically linked in this thread. I'm irked by the people who really hope for the show to fail, and the guys who are intensely loyal to the show are certainly entitled to their opinion, but I don't share their optimism. I don't hate Ant by any stretch, but his focus on race is distracting and unfunny. I'll give the guy credit; in the past week or so, he's had some pretty strong shows. He's at his best when making movie references, doing impressions, and busting balls. His embrace of this caricature with a penchant for guns, things 95% of his audience can't afford, and the coming race war doesn't work. I like the show, but the focus must change.
