Multiple Wives or Concubines?

In the chat room tonight, and concubines were brought up. Why is it that there are no more concubines anymore? I feel like it would help some marriages, and, in my opinion, free people from useless sneaking around to cheat. I also believe that having a concubine would be way sexier and more intriguing than having a second wife ... but what the fuck do I know, I have neither.
