Big East: Best basketball in my opinion. The big east tourney is as good as the actual tourney. Football is down right now but a decent history.

ACC: Also great basketball, has the best rivalry. Football kinda blows but Miami could be good before you know it.

Big Ten: I think there basketball is disgusting but they compete. Football looks good then gets beat in the championship. They got good hockey.

Big 12: Basketball is great, reigning national champs. Football is very good as well.

Pac 10: UCLA has as good a history as anyone in basketball. USC is dominate recently in football. Great baseball too.

SEC: Best football conference every year. Basketball is down right now but usually good. Baseball is great.

If you count all sports it might be something other than the SEC but if you're talking the 3 big ones ( football, basketball and baseball ) and include women's basketball it's by far the SEC at least over the last 25 years.

Yea 40 years ago. The Big Ten hasnt been near as good as people act in football or basketball for the last 10 years at least. GARBAGE

If you are talking sports and include women's basketball you should have your balls cut off

I just think that women's basketball is a little more national than say a hockey.

I guess you could include soccer ( both men's & women's ) as being fairly national and maybe lacrosse ( very regional ).

I dont think anyone even includes baseball bro.

Compared to football and basketball, most of the the rest of the sports dont really make a whole lot for schools. You would be hard pressed to find more then a handful of baseball guys on full scholarship

Being on scholarship doesn't mean their sport doesn't count.

I'll argue it's more of a student athlete sport than the big 2 because many of the kids that don't have atheltic scholarships are there on academic ones.

Granted as a sport it's not nearly as important to people nationally as football and basketball but from a coverage and fan base it's bigger than any other college sport.

There are schools , that have had success in football, basketball and baseball, where baseball is 2nd only to football.

Just because teams from certain geographic locations will never succeed in the sport, due to weather, finances or whatever, doesn't mean the sport isn't important.

But we are discussing it as fans. And to fans, football and basketball are the only real ones that matter. The only college baseball that makes tv is the WS. Imagine if not a single college football game was show until bowls or a single basketball game shown until the tourney. It would be insane.

Most of us dont know enough about the conferences past football and basketball to have a comment. Im sure there are a good number of big east teams that kill it in soccer, I know they are pretty good for baseball, but no one really seems to care.

Its all about the big 2 sports. Funny enough its pretty simple.

ACC- blows at football, number 2 overall conf for basketball
big east, not great at football, better then ACC, number 1 conf overall for basketball. Pac 10 is overrated at everything, same with big ten (tremendously)

big 12 is solid in both and the SEC is the best in football, but aside from florida, arent great at basketball

Maybe right now the SEC isn't good in backetball but they've had more champions ( Arkansas, Kenutcky and UF ) over the last 25 years than any conference except the ACC ( which might actually have 3 as well ).

How is the Big 12 more solid in both sports than the SEC ?

The Big 12 has won 1 title in football in the last 5 years and none in basketball while the SEC has won 2 in basketball and 3 in football.

Fans are those that actually watch the games.

With that said baseball is huge in the SEC, Big 12 and the PAC10.

You may not care about what happens in an LSU/Alabama baseball game but I doubt anybody in Baton Rouge or Tuscalosa cares about what happens in a West Virgina/Villanova game.

Baseball is a money genertaing sport at many schools and for that matter can't just be easily dismissed because you can't watch it on ABC on a Saturday afternoon.

Actually through the cable networks I have a better chance of watching a non-national baseball game from the Big 12 on TV in CT than I would of seeing a Big East basketball game in Austin TX.

im talkin about right now. I dont give a fuck about 15 years ago. This is a today question

and aside from the CWS, not a single baseball game makes TV here. No one cares about the austin texas tv market, sorry

So how far is today ? This year ?

Because the Big East is great this year they are the best in basketball ?

What if they don't come out of this w/ a title and somebody from the Big 10 does ?

Will the argument be that the Big East was the greatest in the regular season ?

If today is say the last 5 years and you count only basketball and football than the SEC is hands down the best because it's given you 6 of the 10 possible champions ( 2 for LSU in football and 4 for UF in basketball and football ) in that timeframe.

i would say past 4 years for college is current shit.

And the big east as a whole is the deepest conference, yes. Would the top 3 teams always beat other conf top 3, no but the conf as a whole is better than any other

again its about the whole conference, not only the top teams. If USC was to win the national championship, that wouldnt just make the pac 10 better then other conf that year. it was 1 team.

And you're probably right at this point. But in the last 4 years the Big East hasn't won anything in either sport and the Big 12 has won 2 titles ( Texas football and Kansas basketball ) and again the SEC has won more w/ 5 ( 4 for UF in basketball and football and 1 for LSU in football ).

Regardless of how you slice it the SEC, when you consider the best to be the one who actually ends up w/ the title, is superior.
