The consensus is that Dave does not push Fez off, Fez pushes Fez off and Dave fills the silence. Dave is a strong personality but nothing would make Ron happier than to have Fez there.
The bottom line is Ron dictates whos on the show and HE finds Dave entertaining, so all the griping in the listening thread isn't going to change that.
