I Think I Just Saw A Spirit

I was just outside on my porch having a cigarette before I hit the sack and I noticed that when I exhaled a purple orb was revealed about 3 feet in front of me. It wasn't visible at all unless I blew smoke in that direction. It was a perfect circle, about chest height.

I know some of you naysayers will say it was humidity or condensation or that I was smoking something other than a cigarette, but I assure you this is legit. I blew smoke in different directions and it was only in that one spot. There were no lights or anything in the area.

I'm going to bed now.

I wonder if it followed me inside.

Dude, I have seen plenty of wierd things in my life. I grew up in a haunted house as a kid and I have hours upon hours of memories - that also had many witnesses. These things do happen - just not everyone is in tune or has the luck of the experience. And most who might experience something like this immediately write it off as it didnt happen.

Gvac. This is not too uncommon. Usually these orbs only show up in photographs and we toss them aside. It very well could be a few things.
A. Some type of gas that was emitted and never fully evaporated. (industrial or pharmaceutical) for whatever reason it stays in a "bubble" and just hangs around.
B. A spirit or spectre that for whatever reason found a "nest" where you were smoking. The fact that it didn't move is encouraging. These spirits are only here because they are trapped and cannot move on. It is like they are in a revolving door. But the revolving door is Earth> They get stuck in a loop and repeat the same actions over and over again. This ball being new is what makes it so interesting.
C. It could be energy that you yourself somehow projected out to release toxins. In his book "Shot In The Heart" Mikal Gilmore explains in great detail that he does not believe in ghosts at all but saw hundreds of evil spirits throughout his childhood----(Indian chiefs, old ladies on stairs, ORBS etc..) He believes that these were all projections from his familiy and their past actions finally being released. He created the images himself to have a place to put the unexplainable about his parents.
Either way, the purple circle is harmless. if it is still there and freaks you out (why wouldn't it?) I would recommend telling it that you are not in it's way and you want no trouble...I once told a ghost in a hotel room to "Fuck off" and it stopped singing (loong story)
The Lord's Prayer is good for some reason with these guys too.

I was making a movie in Montreal. I was staying at an old hotel that was across the street from a "haunted" old nunnery. Each night when I went to sleep, from the closet next to the bed I heard singing in french. It was whispered and quiet but very troubled. Like someone singing to get through an incredible trauma. I told the "ghost" that I was just visiting and that I didn't want to bother it. I would soon be on my way to leave it alone. I had candles in the room and that night I woke up and my television set was actually on fire. Their was a candle on top of the tv and somehow the flame i guess jumped from it's holder and made glass catch fire? anyway. I put that out with my pillows and a blanket and laid back down freaked out. As I was laying there with my heart pounding, the scared, whispered french singing started again. I looked towards the closet (it had no door and was empty) and yelled, "Shut the fuck up!!!! Seriously, get the fuck out of here and fuck OFF!!!"
The singing stopped. I switched rooms two nights later though.
I swear all of this is factual and true.

I'm going to order this book immediately. I think a lot of paranormal activity can explained by people projecting energy. poltergeist activity is the best example. I never thought before that it could be the releasing past actions. I do think that people who witness this activity have a connection to it that is hard to understand.

I was on a Zen retreat once and asked the head monk whether there is a supernatural. He said that if I clearly saw the true reality of every moment, I would understand how meaningless this question is so get back to your meditation. Being a Zen monk, he didn't elaborate. I interpreted his answer as basically saying everything we consider reality is a collection of energy that we are filtering through our own clouded perception and all labels of natural/supernatural are just subsets of our big illusion. Then again, he might have just thought I was an idiot and threw out that answer to get rid of me. You never can tell with those monks.

Can't wait to read it. I remember Gary Gilmore. I was a kid when he was executed. Thanks for the recommendation.

It was a weekend retreat at the Zen Mountain Center near Woodstock. I go to their Fire Lotus Temple here in Brooklyn. Excellent group. I can't say enough about the monks, lay teachers, members.

I just finished "Shot in the Heart". I can't recommend the book enough. rough, moving read, though. Hard to escape the feeling the Gilmore family had a curse.

Mikal said he doesn't believe in ghosts but there were a lot of dark spirits throughout the book. I like his interpretation that they were manifestations of the darkness generated by the family.

Anyone know who the wrestler is that Frank Sr. and his sons hung out with in Portland? He is now a 'conservative talk show dj' but there was no name.
