TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey is drawing the line when it comes to bikini waxing. The state Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling is moving toward a ban on genital waxing after two women reported being injured in their quest for a smooth bikini line.

Both women were hospitalized for infections following so-called "Brazilian" bikini waxes; one of the women has filed a lawsuit, according to Jeff Lamm, a spokesman for New Jersey's Division of Consumer Affairs, which oversees the cosmetology board.

If you go to a nasty nail place to get it done, yeah infection is a high possibility. I won't get my eyebrows waxed at the place I used to go to because I get some kind of gross breakouts from it. You think they're putting out new wax every time? ahaha. Think about it. They have a big pot of wax that they dip a stick into, spread onto someones cooch, then dip that stick right back in that wax.

I'm driving 15 minutes further and paying 3x as much for waxing now because I know they're clean. After reading the whole article it appears they're banning the part of the brazillian that is actually asshole and inside vagina lip waxing, you can still get a regular wax.

The problem is, if it's just dirt and sweat and grossness living in there, your pores open up from the heat and any nastiness goes inside the pore. I don't think it would be truly hot enough to kill everything, they keep it basically hot enough just to melt the wax.

The place I prefer to go to has a block of wax just for 1 person that they put into the warmer, and they unwrap a new little stick right there, but it's $20 rather than $6.

that's the problem at any place, be it nail salon or fancy spa.
The dip stick is only supposed to be used for one application.

One of the problems in NJ is that they are only checked at store opening and when reports are filed against them. Some states have routine checks on salons of all kind.

What's wrong with a little hair down there? I'm not talking 70's earth mama muff but no hair is not natural. Maybe, it shows my age. Turning a teenager in the early 80's, all women had great bush's. Now, almost all 20-30 yr olds have nothing on their vag. This is sad to me - it dosent seems right.

I needed to go to school for 12 years and pass a licencing board exam to check peoples teeth for cavities and yet anybody who rents a place at the stripmall can get paid to do THIS!!!
