The duo might work out. I've been very entertained at the beginning of their show before they seem to start working so hard at it. It has to be hard without other characters to play off and recharge their batteries. Most two-seat entertainers seem to play music or something that doesn't involve them to keep their energy up. More phone calls in the interim may help. (Time for me to leave the backseat and let those guys drive.) I love me some ESD too!

I think Dave brings out the best in Sam. On Special Delivery Sam isn't the conniving sarcastic bastard that always shows up on O&A.

Sam doesn't have a good radio voice.

i think Sam compliments Dave's talents perfectly. Dave is crazy and off-the-cusp and sam is informed and a wise ass. And i think hes pretty quick-witted (which surprised me). I'm definitley digging on the show

And it is important that the crazy-funny guy is paired with a smart-funny guy. I tried listening to Bob Kelly's radio show and its terrible because there is no smart people on that show and you don't feel any balance

i think a big problem alot of listeners have when listening to radio shows is they think "this guy is not as funny as this guy so it must be wrong!" but i think there are a lot of elements outside of "the hosts need to be equally funny!"

Dave sucks and Sam is great but Danny and Ant are better. I want to see them have a SNV show where they can speak the truth and tell it like it is without the shitty suits telling them what to do.

I think Dave needs a partner who knows movies, sports, 90's pop culture, music, partying and shit like that.

Sam isn't into any of that.

That's why they are always 'working' at doing radio.

Dave should try a show with Hicks and Scruffy.

I agree Dave needs a smart guy but I just dont think that guy is Sam. I think Sam would be better on the Opie spin off, and Dave would do better with someone else.

As much as I would hate ESD leaving Ron and Fez, I would love to hear a regular Dave and someone else really good show.

This is true. I didn't like Sam at all on Than and Sam. He's grown on me on SD.

Sam absolutely knows these subjects. While his movie and music tastes might not typically be considered "high art," the guy is a whiz when it comes to the 90's. I'll give you that he's clueless when it comes to non-scripted sports and stuff like drinking, smoking, or pushups.

hmmm, it's a tough call for me. too early to say, i guess. i really liked than and sam... an awful lot, actually.

i guess if i could pick something out, it would be that dave just seems so thrilled - or drunk, proverbially or literally - on special delivery, that i don't think we are hearing his full potential on s & d yet. he's giddy and says things about nazis and incest and his mom that are just flatly absurd. i think he'll chill out over time and reach that point he sometimes is at with ron on r & f ( & d) where it's a sincere conversation instead of zany theater. the reason my thinking went in this direction, when the first post is really just about sam, is that because dave has been so ebullient on all the live shows, i actually think sam is feeling a little unsure of what exactly to make of dave's energy. ron said something extremely poignant early on about how it seemed these two were just taking turns talking. they need more time to gel together- until them i don't think one is performing much better than the other.

speaking of real moments, on last week's show when sam said, "that really bothers you that i don't go drinking with you, doesn't it?" i felt that was a very true but brief moment in time....

My first Sam and Dave was last weekends live show. I like what Sam brings out in Dave, and I do think Sam is a funny guy. Sam is just a different kind of funny then what 202 is used to. I do tho think that Dave is the funniest part of the show, but Dave's funny is best when worked off of someone else.
I'll listen again, and I think it would be pretty cool if these guys got a shot here.

Sam should be doing the behind the scenes gossip ratting stuff he does for O and A. Not "OOO Bi-clops is scary.." "More breakfast foods!" and other nonsense. Dave should also explore Sam's idiosyncrasies. And Dave should dye his awful recessive gene hair. Damn ginger..

What a witty, insightful post!

This is why mikeyboy's our leader; he speaks his mind and he's not afraid to take the unpopular stance on a subject!

I like Dave and Sam together. They are still finding theur groove, but come on, it's only been like a dozen or so shows. I'd say no to Pepper as co-host because I still hold out hope for the return of High Society.

I like them both. They have different approaches which work well together. But, they are very inexperienced. They both need time to develop more. Nevertheless, they could probably be a morning show in most markets in the US.

Ant would be in trouble with the suits in less than a week without Opie.....Also ESD RULES!

Sam is OK, but I wouldn't be upset if he was replaced by the ghost of Roberto.
