View Full Version : Should jesus be named the official god of America?
Dude!
03-25-2009, 08:55 PM
why not
i think congress should so designate him
maybe even make it a constitutional amendment
ratified by the states
Amendment number 20-whatever: "Jesus is hereby named the official god of the USA"
would be rather fun, really
it would give the country something new to talk about
other than the economy
put him on all the coins and dollar bills too
could be just the medicine we need

Would blasphemy become illegal?
Cause when I'm frustrated, I like to say "Oh, for the love of masterbating baby Jesus"!!!!!
I'm 25, and not smart enough to come up with a new phrase.

So would Jesus be replacing God on the money? As in "In Jesus We Trust?" Cause then Jesus would replace God, but Jesus IS God, so then he'd be replacing himself. Seems redundant to me.

honestly, i have always thought of jesus as different from god
for purposes of the constitutional amendment
it would be "Jesus in his own right"
as opposed to "Jesus who is god and is the father son and holy ghost"
that is just nonsense
it would be recognizing jesus on his own
separate from his father
a sort of coming of age for jesus
and coming into his own right

Next you'll be saying that the tooth fairy is different from Tinkerbell.

Maybe... wait... shouldn't you be reporting God's "alive or dead" status?

I think this is a fantastic idea.We promote Jesus from son of God status to actual God status thereby firing God.This will really piss off the non-cristians.Then we give the Congress something really important to focus on instead of all of this economy and national security bullshit.I'm surprised W. didn't think of it.

America already has it's god.....called Money.
Can we leave Jesus alone already? The man preached nothing but peace and love ( not unlike ringo) but he is constantly ridiculed (again not unlike ringo)
Say what u will about The Church (I probably agree) but Jesus the man was a loving person.....

GW was too ignorant to think for himself, much less accomplish something of this magnitude.

Jesus was not a God. Jesus was a man. It offends me that anyone suggests the idea of worshiping a man as if he were a God. Then we might as well call ourselves Romans.

I agree. it is called the separation of church and stats. By naming a god the state is endorsing a religion.

Jesus is my God. But so is God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit. Fortunately, they're also one in the same, so I only have to worship one God.
But the Constitution says you can worship any way you choose, or not at all if that's your preference.
So do what you want in the religion department, and if you have any questions regarding my faith/religion, feel free to ask!
