Oh most wise Dr. Steve,

I had a tickle in my throat all day Thursday but no other symptoms of being sick. On Friday it was still there and I just felt exhausted. I came home from work and passed out for about 5 hours. When I woke up I was coughing up thick chunks of yellowish goop that had the consistency of peanut butter. I don't have a fever or a persistent cough or anything else that would lead me to believe I was sick, but I do have a pounding headache and I still feel really tired.

I'm still occasionally coughing up lung butter, but not as much. What could it be?

Will I be dead soon?

Thanks!

Gargle salt water and heat the lance to avoid infection. Its as true today as it was first prescribed.

Ok, last time you wrote to me, you said your bowel movements were the consistency of peanut butter. Now the shit you're coughing up reminds you of peanut butter.

What happened between you and peanut butter in your deep dark past? what memories are you suppressing?

You may simply have a sinusitis, either viral or bacterial. Your nasal sinuses fill up, causing the headache and the infection causes the fatigue (it takes a lot of energy to fight off any kind of infection). You lay down, the sinuses drain, you wake up and cough up a load of crap that collected in your throat while you were sleeping.

A one-and-done snotfest is ok...keep it up and you'll need to get checked out to make sure it isn't something serious.

hope you feel better!

your pal,

steve

Doctor...I use a neti pot. My sinuses are fine.

This cold seems to be isolated to my chest.

I'm worried.

it's obvious: you're suffering from a cheese deficiency (http://ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76843&highlight=disgusting).

Cheese increases mucous, my friend.

It's a vile concoction.

Then you'll all feel terrible.

if you are coughing up mucus and it does not go away just use some guaifenesin ( or mucinex) to clear it up.
Even if you use your neti pot and keep your nasal passages free your sinuses are up in your forehead and areas where your neti does not reach... so you are not completely immune to sinus infections that will drain down your throat while you sleep.

Gross.

I wish they made a neti pot that cleaned out my forehead and lungs.

you can always go with homeopathic medicine... I use it for Lukas in some instances and for his sinuses I use a medicine called sinupret (http://www.bionoricausa.com/product-details/sinupret-for-kids) ow which is herbal based, sadly they don't sell it for adults here yet

sorry bro, was getting Liam audio edited for show night. :-)

He's having trouble figuring out which "uncle greg" is mad at him (it's Opie); I told him the Uncle Greg that went to the restaurant with us is the good uncle greg.

if you're coughing a lot, it may be a "bronchitis" of some sort...again it could be a virus or a bacterium. Viruses don't respond to antibiotics and are a lot more common than bacterial infections.

if you have a fever, it may even be pneumonia. If you're feeling sick, don't screw around with it, go see a health care provider. Remember Jim Henson and don't be a dope.

your pal,

steve

PS: in the meantime, I agree with Katja, Mucinex is the bomb. It doesn't actually do anything to stop the infection, though, so if you're just getting worse, go see someone.
