Actually, it's more of my lawyer stye. I often have to present the most persuasive argument to make to convince the other side, a judge etc. to agree with my position. I try to never make a weak or ridiculous argument (though sometimes I probably do), because such arguments make me less credible.

Time and again, I've seen attorneys that I have opposed make a ridiculous argument and as a result, the judge is less likely to rule in their favor on issues where they are making better arguments.

I think it's better in the long run to concede a point and appear rational, then to make a ridiculous argument and apprear irrational, desperate, etc.
