What the hell.

I just got my fourth call about my car warranty being expired.

I never thought anything of it until last Friday I caught O/A saying something about a car warranty scam.

So I looked it up and found tons of articles about it.

I had no idea this was such a wide spread issue.

Anyone else here been getting these calls?

I've been getting those too. It's been pretty easy to tell that they are bogus since I don't own a car.

We get them all the time. We always ignored them because they weren't coming from the car company or our insurance company.

I didnt' realize it was such a big scam untll my wife told me that it was announced yesterday on the Today show.

that and the fact that they say it expired recently... sure... like 75kmiles ago recently

When I first got a call of this sort years ago it really did just expire and I thought it was real for a second, but argued with them that I was not interested nor needed it and they got really nasty and insulting.

Now I have been getting at least 3-4 calls a week on my cell. The problem is that the number they call from changes every time, so blocking it does not help.

I get them at home and work but our warranty expired a long time ago so we always hang up.

I also get scam calls at work for printer toner. They say they are from the printer/copier company, ask what kind of printer it is and say the price of toner is about to change and this is your chance to order some at a lower price before it changes. They actually got me once my first year at work. Now I tell them we have a maintenance contract for free toner and they hang up on me.

I think they might be on to something.

I think the warranty on my 1997 Chevy Lumina might just have expired.

There is something wrong with my car's warranty?

Someone please give me a number where I can contact a representative to have this straightened out.

I've also been getting calls for a particular patient telling me he can refinance his home.. etc etc. This man doesn't even know what country he's living in.

i get these damn calls on my cell and at work.

I was even in a damn elevator and the emergency phone rang. i picked up the phone and heard, "This is the second notice that your factory warrenty blah blah blah."

These calls are everywhere, and they're tying up my phone when I'm expecting a very important call from the prince of Nigeria!

I get those calls at work all the time.

Also calls that are credit terminal is not up to code, and the only way to fix it is to buy an entire new machine from joesmhoe credit handling LLC.

Beware also about people calling about office supplies, they'll try to verify your address and printer model, and as soon as you do they send you shit and bill you even though you never agreed to it technically.

Just got a call to my work number.

Seems like this one is now on the list.

I am getting frustrated with this now cause over the past weeks it has increased to as many as 4 calls a day, even late at night and ALWAYS from a different number... I can't even block it.

It's the only time I use my minutes cause I never even talk on the phone and have thousands of roll over minutes... I guess that way they don't go to waste

problem is, my cell is also my work cell, so its not uncommon for oddball numbers to be calling me.

how and why are these calls getting made.

All the time. I don't know how many "final warnings" I've had that my warranty is about to expire. A bunch, I figure.

Same here. The pause before the recording starts is a dead giveaway.

i've been getting random calls from some company that leaves me automated messages. it's always from the same number. yesterday there was one that said "if you are not jessica _______, please hang up now. if you remain on the line, that is considered confirmation that you are jessica ______." then there was a pause and a message that was CLEARLY spam. and no call back number.

assholes. they call me at least 10 times a day.

no, it's not a collection agency.

I've never gotten a call just the cards in the mail telling me my warranty is about to expire.

Are you guys on the "do not call" list? Does that even work?

ADF
05-21-2009, 05:57 AM
I put myself on the "do not call" list and the calls seem to have stopped for me, although I've read that that doesn't always work as the system they use calls numbers at random.

I connected with an operator and started to act like I was crying hysterically, rambling on about how I couldn't let my warranty expire and how my life would be ruined if it did.

I got hung up on.

We used to get them all the time, until they did a segment on the company on the Today show. Now, we're getting one about having a house alarm installed to prevent home burglaries. We get it once a day. :wallbash:
