Opie's Farewell Tour

Even since they got over to the new building, Opie has been playing some of the oldest bits, posting old pictures and almost reminiscing about the old times.

While he has been doing this, he has been trying to push Anthony and Jimmy in other directions. Even Anthony now has his own separate "show".

Is this a farewell tour? A look back on how things were?

I think that there is definitely something going on behind the scenes. To me, it seems the move combined with O&A's last spat may have changed the dynamic. Lately its sounded like Opie is "outgrowing" (for lack of a better word) the whole gig. He talks about having kids, and he doesn't seem the type to want to be doing what he does for a living and then go home and raise a kid. Can you be a "shock jock" and a Dad simultaneously?

I know I'm reading too much into it.

I think Opie's wife has told him she doesn't like him hanging out with Anthony. So, he is slowly distancing himself from Anthony. But, she loves lil Jimmy.

I think it would be better if the had an amicable separation instead of leaving hating one another. Of course, they might hate one another right now as it is. I do find it interesting that Ant is doing his own show now.

But I don't think Mogulous(sp) pays Anthony enough money to keep luring young women to the compound.

Anthony is doing his own show because he feels constricted by satellites regulations, he has no where to go that will pay him a decent salary and allow him to express himself fully. Unless WKKK or WNZI get huge ratings, Anthony with have to stay with his free podcast.

I'm reading the changes in the show in a completely different way. First, I think the fight they had was a necessary thing, possibly something that needed to happen to clear the air. It probably would have been better to have happened off the air, but I think they look at it as something that happened and to move on from it which I think they did.

I think the Anthony doing his own show thing is more of him wanting to do like R&F did with their after shows that they did for a while on Paltalk. For a while there I saw Ant on PT checking out the aftershows and wondered at the time if perhaps he wanted to do something similar. I don't there's any way either shows can really do that at the new Sirius studios and Ant likely doesn't want to be in the city any longer than he has to so he took the next logical step and made his own show out of his house. I don't read any of this as the end of the show but more of Anthony having fun doing radio his own way on his own terms.

As for the O&A show, I have never heard it sound better on XM than it has of late, it seems there is new life in the show and I actually am interested in hearing the shows which I was not into for the longest time. Opie made a comment today that they're doing the best shows ever and in some ways I agree that they are. I think the new studio at the Sirius building is giving them exposure to more guests and renewed feeling to do great radio again. Today's interview with Tommy Shaw was one of the best I've heard in a while. Time may prove me wrong, but right now I'm pretty optimistic for the show.
