One of my favorite Mets moments from when I was a kid... I went to a game in '86 with my family. I was 10. It was a day game, probably a Sunday, and the night before Straw hit a gamewinning homerun in the 9th. I forget who it was against, either the Cards or the Reds, I think. Anyways, we were having lunch in the Diamond Club at Shea before the game, and Straw came walking through after doing an pre-game interview with the Channel 9 guys. The whole restaurant broke out in applause, practically a standing ovation, and Straw just had a huge grin on his face. It was great.

Ron said himself yesterday that he doesn't really care about the show and he would have walked a long time ago if his friendship weren't more important than his career.

If that is the case, what does it matter if there is idle chatter in the listening thread or the rest of the board for that matter? They don't pull info from the boards during the live show or take feedback, so they have plenty of time to pick and choose the legit discussion points they want from here or anywhere else on the net.
