It's on my show too. The come back from the break, and suddenly they're talking about having the premier for Last Night in Brooklyn.
I just looked at the Audible show synopsis, and it looks like they fucked up. They just gave us the first chapter of the 19th show, and then put in the rest of the archived show from the 18th. So it looks like it's Audibles fault, but god only knows if they will ever fix it and post the entire proper show.

The live shows the last couple have started the same way, with Ronnie jumping right into things with no Pep opening. Ronnie joked about it today saying that there was an opening on 197 but not 202( at least I think it was joke). Not sure what is going on, but Ron said a while back that management was not crazy about their opening so maybe they got to them. No more Sleeves and now maybe no more openings, what's next?

I looked into getting an ipod touch and am certain it is audible friendly. I just checked again and it shows that it is. Should just be a technical issue but I imagine you will be able to get it working after talking to their tech. support. Good Luck.

It works fine for iPod. You need to update your audible settings so that your ipod is the default hardware and use iTunes as your software (not Audible Manager).
Conversely, you can just go on your library and click the "Podcast it" button and it subscribes you to the podcast of your audible subscription.

There must be some kinda problem.. temporary or otherwise.
I get the "Safari can not open this page" message when I attempt to download. I also see the error message when I attempt to subscribe via iTunes.
Strange.
reading this thread might make you wonder if it is worth the money to subscribe to Audible for Ron & Fez. one caveat about the free month. You do have to give a credit card number, because after the free trial, your subscription will automatically renew at $14.95 per month unless you cancel before the one month date.
I don't know if I'll still be able to download the shows after I cancel my free subscription, but I'll know in a month.

Well, all of our moaning aside, the occasional late show and no best-ofs is a small price to pay for the relative cheapness of the subscription (I buy a yearly one), and the fact that all the commercials are already edited out.
Plus, if you don't have a Sirius or XM device, what other option do you have?
Aside from stealing the show, anyway.

You don't have to be a member of the "Audible Listener" program (I assume that's what you're talking about) to subscribe to R&F or even buy audio-books. In fact, unless you plan on buying a shitload of audio-books, the membership is actually financially counter-productive.
And if you already "paid" for an annual sub to R&F, it's yours (unless they said the credit was contingent on remaining a member for a set amount of time). You should be good to go until next March.
I'm in a similar situation. My mom was an accountant for Audible back when they were a start-up company. Despite being one of the first casualties of the personnel restructuring, she continued to be "comped" on Audible.com, so I have been getting O&A and R&F for free ever since they've existed on Audible. Well, as you might expect, they finally (after at least 10 years) caught up with these compensatory accounts (I'm sure Amazon taking over had something to do with it) and she was notified just last week that her credit card account is canceled (it was never her credit card on file). However, everything in her library is still there, and thankfully I had just renewed both annual subs for 202 just last month, and my daily podcast of the audible shows are still coming. :-)
use those trial credit cards they send you in the mail and a different email evrytime and you'll be all set
yeah, I have one of those credit cards that I can load up with as much or as little value as I want. It usually has about $10 on it so even if I forget to cancel the "monthly" subscription, they'll get refused when they try charging to it.

Yeah, I have subscribed to XM for O&A and R&F since they came on but I have been downloading the shows so I can listen to them at my leisure on my mp3 player. Since I have been subscribing, I don't feel like I am stealing the show. My subscription to XM is coming up for renewal later this month and I am leaning toward letting it go away since the music channels suck balls now, so I will probably end up paying Audible for an O&A subscription so I don't feel guilty about "stealing" them too.

I was using Total Recorder to do this. Although with the recent suckness of the online feed i'm glad i went the audible route. Its def worth the cheap cost especially since you won't look like a shlub fast fowarding through commercials. Plus all your episodes are availible to dl again on their website.

Plus, one of the shows was put together backwards.

Maybe for you. Maybe you've spent so much time in torrents you have "credit", but when I go in half the time I get failed downloads with error msgs.
Add the fact that everything on there is an illegal upload, and dweebs just LOVE to use torrents to embed their viruses or what ever, and I'll just stick with Audible, thank you.
Besides, the audible file is about 35 megs, the mp3 is more like 180. Better quality, sure, but it's just voice, and I'll throw it away in a couple of hours anyway.

I hate torrents and all the horseshit that goes with it.
Song titles are spelled incorrectly... artists names are incorrect... bit rates suck... sometimes you're getting a demo version or a pre-mix instead of the proper album version. Etc etc.
Anybody who says otherwise is sooo deep into torrents, that they aren't even aware of the fact that they're getting an inferior product. Very often... the person doesn't even know they're listening to a pre-release mix.
Downloads take fucking forever. FOREVER. Fuck that.
Oh yeah... and it's stealing. But that's a whole other thread.
Having said that... I pay full price for my Audible sub. On the few occasions each year that Audible episode doesn't show up in my Audible library... yeah... I would try to get it from a budday. Screw torrents though. Fuckin' hassle and a half.

Fuckin' hassle and a half.
you're on all the wrong sites then... i cant believe im defending this shit. i get o&a/r&f 5 mins after they end or whatever within a couple minutes and theyre perfect. not to mention all the software/movies/tunes/porn/games/anything i can dream up.... its perfect.

First of all, I thought we were talking about R&F torrents, not music and software (the latter of which have the viruses embedded in serial generators).
I was not making an argument in favor of stealing music and software. I was only talking about O&A/R&F shows for when Audible shits the bed.
Second, saying torrents are for people that don't know what newsgroups are is like saying Blu-ray discs are for people who don't know what VHS tapes are. Adolf was implying that going to newsgroups and downloading and piecing together files is an antiquated way of doing things (and good luck getting all the file pieces if you're not on it the first day they're posted). The "I'm an old-school 'Net veteran mmaaaaannn!" attitude doesn't impress anyone. Are you still running Windows 3.1 too?
Third, whenever Audible shits the bed (often with the O&A show), I usually download the 195MB (128k) mp3 torrent in about 2 minutes. That's right, about two minutes and it's ready to go. I'm sorry if downloading at 1.5 - 2MB/sec is too "slow" for anyone.
As I said, torrents are not complicated. All you need is a client like uTorrent, and then it's a matter of clicking on a torrent file link. The software takes care of the rest. It really is that simple.
As for stealing music/movies/software...you do that at your own risk. But as for the Virus radio shows, there is one very reliable source that provides these on a daily basis (in torrent form), and while I'm not going to point you right to it, I will say it doesn't take too much in-depth searching to find it. Nobody told me and I found them pretty quickly.
For the record, I mostly use torrents for downloading live unofficial concert recordings. It's all free trade (usually with the band's knowledge/blessing) instead of buying from the douchebag bootleggers on Ebay.
Torrents are not always just a method of stealing. The primary function of a torrent is sharing (paying it forward).
If anyone has any questions about working with torrents, feel free to PM me.

I'm pretty sure I know the site you mean, the problem is that you need to sign up to use it and they aren't open for registration too often. That being said, there are a couple of other sites recently that make O&A and R&F shows available via torrents.
I too support the shows by subscribing to Xm/Sirius and Audible. I usually can't listen to the shows live, and quite often Audible is SLOOOOOOW to make the shows available (for example yesterday's R&F show still isn't available on Audible) so torrents are the way I go.

SiriusXM seriously needs to re-visit their partnership with Audible.
Late shows... no shows... Unmasked isn't offered... special event shows aren't offered. It's definitely a bare bones situation.
The bottom line is; the honest/paying customers aren't happy.
The whole thing needs to be reworked.

Perhaps. But... any way ya slice it... they are currently offering a slightly less-than-ideal product.
It's very simple. I am quite happy to subscribe and pay the full rate, all I'm asking for is that they publish every single show. If they wanna raise the rate, I'm fine with it. Just give me every show.
Whoever is to BLAME kinda doesn't interest me.
There are people who are unwilling and/or too cheap to pay for their R&F content. Those people get every episode. (?!)
That should bother XM and Sirius and Audible.

04-01-2010, 10:20 AM
I think if XM/Sirius are to blame at all it's because the show is understaffed.
I'd be willing to pay more if I could get the special shows and I'd be willing to buy a subscription for Unmasked.
Normally I'm working when the show is on and I can't listen so this is my only legal avenue of keeping up with the show.
I love that Audible just downloads into my I tunes and I now have every episode in order.
When it works it's an awesome service.

Actually, the torrent is a little less than twice the size (today's show - Audible 44.6MB - Torrent 85.4MB), and I downloaded today's show just now (to make a point...I already have the Audible show) at an AVERAGE of just about 1 MiB/sec and it took 1 minute and 22 seconds to download. yes, you to download a program, the most popular one id utorrent.
when it is installed and running, you go to a torrent site, download a torrent file, which will instruct utorrent how to download the mp3 file that you can play on your player.

Customers looking to renew their subscriptions will not be able to do so. We do apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause but Sirius XM, the provider of this program, has informed us that they no longer want to distribute their radio shows through Audible. I have a Samsung Helix portable receiver and it allows me to record as well. Every night, I set it up to record from 1am to 6am and that is how I catch the show. I can't listen at work - they block the streaming and I can't get the signal inside our building. Not sure if other receivers allow recording or just the Helix. This might be one way to continue listening to recorded shows until Sirius/XM begins offering downloads again.

An Inno is essentially the same radio, so it records as well.
You can also remove the commercials with the XM2go software, although it's not fool proof because you basically remove the sections based on running time, but if the commercial breaks weren't cut properly in the pad data, you could end up deleting a few minutes of the guys talking. I basically cut out anything under 2 minutes.

It's not R & F's fault, obviously, but it's pretty frustrating when you do the right thing - pay for an Audible subscription - and someone pulls that out from under you with no backup.
Wouldn't it make sense for Sirius to announce what they were going to do to replace audible when they pulled the plug on it? So stupid, especially when it's so easy to get the show by other means.

* Karmazin was asked about his thoughts on the end of a price freeze put on the company by government regulators when they approved the Sirius-XM merger. He said it should come to an end in mid-2011 and would give Sirius "a whole lot of flexibility," not simply to boost subscriber fees, but offer various packages. Karmazin called it "another arrow in our bag" to drive financials.

The may 6 show appears to be fixed and re-posted.
I've been thinking about the Audible/Sirius issues.
It amazes me that a "listener recording the show and posting it via torrents" is a vastly superior (and reliable) distribution system than the "Sirius engineer recording the show, sending it to Audible for distribution to subscribers"
You would think that when you are making money in the process, it should make it more likely that it will get done correctly but it just doesn't work that way.
It has been expressed here over and over that people down't mind paying for the product but it has to be a reliable system. We want the shows to be complete and delivered on a regular schedule. Why is that so hard ?
Sure, Sirius has the choice to say, "No, the only way you can legally get the show is to subscribe and listen to it via satellite radio" but even that isn't being clearly expressed yet.

I've been in contact with audible back and forth about this issue, thinking that I was going to have to get O&A and R&F from torrents from now on, but they just signed new contracts with Audible, and the show feed will continue.
Why do I prefer Audible? The show file size is small, quick to DL (torrents sometimes get hung up, though R&F have always worked well) it pops right up in my iTunes, without having to go find the file and add it to my library and such. Less steps.
Why pay for it instead of get it for free? Well, at least it's a legal distribution source, and hey - I'm a capitalist... I say pay for what you get.
As for reliability, I'd like to see a record of how often a missing show is due to an Audible staffer, vs a XM staffer. Everyone here is first to accuse the Audible staff, but I know of times when Fridays show didn't appear until Monday, because someone at XM screwed up (or forgot) the transmission.
So, for my 14.95/month with audible I get two free monthly subs and one book, and I use them to get my shows, and if something goes completely wrong (or maybe Sirius deletes a show for some controversy) I know I always have a backup source.

this is great news indeed. I prefer the audible version also and have no problem paying for something I enjoy.
Most posters here know where the blame is when there is a problem with Audible show delivery, but in the end, pointing fingers at the guilty party doesn't lessen the frustration of not getting a full show on time.

Still for the most part audible works well and it's nice to not have to do any "work" to get the show each day with it just downloading automatically into my iTunes each day with audible.
