I'm a bad dog owner

I love my Australian Cattle dog Bonnie.(sorry, no pic) I found her as a stray, no collar, no response to neighborhood signs. I took her to the vet pretty consistently for the first few years, but have since slacked off, just keeping her shots up to date. She's 11 now and began to limp last week, unable to put weight on her hind left leg. I checked her paw and made an appt. to see the vet today.

An exam, fecal and blood tests later, it turns out she has lyme disease and a swollen ACL. Its like she's Plaxico Burress or something, but I kid. She must have hurt her leg chasing something and I pick ticks off her all the time.

$287.00 and 4 pills a day later, I hope my little girl feels better :sad:

I hope she feels better soon. I have a similar breed (my mom does now since I am in an apartment) and found her abused and hurt, took her to the vet, and loved her since. She is only a year younger than your dog.

Glad you caught Lyme's Disease at a stage they can treat. Killed my friend's dog.

I know, I should probably go get myself checked for Lyme. I dislike doctors as much as Bonnie dislikes vets

You are far from a bad dog owner. You brought your dog in for medical attention. Most people don't do that. Hooray to you for doing the right thing.

... the rest of the story is his vet works behind the counter at the liquor store , and the vet is short for veteran ; not veterinarian.
