i don't loathe them, and i even get along with them cordially enough, but aside from the fact that we're related, i can't imagine i'd ever hang out with any of them.

I don't hate my extended family because I hardly know a lot of them. There's a very few close family I know but the rest are just kinda out there somewhere.

My daughter and one of my grandmothers is about all I have time for. The rest of them I am cordial with but they don't like me and I don't like them. Oh, and my wife is OK too. I much prefer her and her family to my own.

I love my family to death, they are truly the greatest but I am still the outsider. Aside from my brother I can do with just talking to them on the phone twice a month, and my parents live less than 10 minutes from me. At holiday shit fests I am the one outside drinking heavily alone.

My family abandoned me once my parents both died. I don't know if I loathe them necessarily, I kinda feel nothing for them.

my father's side of the family is almost nonexistent to me. they are not loathed, but they never tried to make a connection with my mom or my sisters (they hated my mom) and they treated my dad like garbage when he needed them most.

im not killing myself to make a connection with them.

Misti, stop living a parallel life to me :lol: When my dad was diagnosed with cancer my aunt told him she couldn't wait for him to die so she could dance and piss on his grave. And yet she knew just who to call whenever she wanted plumbing work done and didn't want to pay for it, including parts.

My family (mom's side) and all my buddays with whom I grew up all live within 20 miles of me, and each other. I have lots of cousins (15), brother, sister, both parents, both grandparents, and a brand new baby niece. We all get along. We go to church together, spend every holiday together, play softball, drink beers, and genuinely love one another. I'm the oldest cousin and everybody is getting married and having babies. I still have dinner with my parents on sunday nights. I'm pretty blessed this way.

heh.. the reasons are not so parallel... my mom had to get a restraining order aginast my dad b/c he was an alcoholic who had a wife beating problem... he was basically left homeless because of that. he has 4 bros and 1 sister. only his sister and one brother even entertained the idea of him staying with their fam for a while. he ended up with my aunt. this is coming from people who lived in MY MOTHER'S HOUSE (we had a 3 fam house attatched to his fam's house).

im not shedding tears over not seeing them. i only talk to the family of that aunt and uncle who offered.

I'm very lucky and love my entire, but I kinda feel guilty for it after reading the above posts. There are some in the extended family I could do without, but that's a very small percentage.

Everyone is cool and down to earth but I dont think im close with anyone in my family including my immediate family. but they laugh at my jokes and I pretend to laugh at theirs. i think I come from the most unfunny family ever
