Mike Tyson's four-year-old daughter has been hospitalized on life support after a choking accident at home, according to police.

Exodus Tyson was found by her seven-year-old brother with a cable from an exercise treadmill wrapped around her neck on Monday morning, authorities said.

The girl's mother freed her, called emergency services and began resuscitation attempts.

"Initial information developed today from officers, initial interviews and a preliminary examination of the scene indicate this was a tragic accident," Police spokesman Andy Hill said.

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson was out of town but returned immediately, local media reported.

KNXV-TV reported he arrived at St. Joseph's Hospital in a taxi and made no comment as he hurried to the child's bedside.

she is a 4 year old, anything can be dangerous around them, they will take a rubber band and wrap it... or a jumping rope... you can tell them a 100 times not to do it and they will do it anyway when you are not looking

Katja is right, kids do stupid stuff regardless of what you say. If this kid didn't listen to Tyson telling her to stop, who is she going to listen to?
Not saying this girl was told not to do it or whatever, just saying.
Its a shame, and its sad to say this is Darwin at work so I won't. Hope she recovers, and others learn a lesson to be more vigilant, but its doubtful children and parents could learn from this.

it does not matter... she could have gotten tangled up in a shoe string and still choked. Maybe it was one of those bands that go around the waist or maybe a separate band that gets attached to the chest to read the heart rate... it could have just hung off the side of the treadmill and she could have just walked into it...

An eight-year-old I was babysitting figured out how to turn the treadmill on. She fell off the end and it tore off her toenail. Anything is dangerous when kids are invovled. Katja already said that, but I forgot to quote her--I'm too lazy to go back and retype it.

My sister in laws cousin had a daughter who was 8 years old and something caused her brain to begin swelling and they had her on life support and tried everything, but in the end they had to pull the plug and the girl passed away. I went to the hospital the night they made their decision and it was horrible. This woman has never been the same since.
She is totally dedicated to her late daughter and has been wearing black since and never stopped mourning. Its so sad.
This happened 10 years ago and its still going on, longer than the girl was alive. The mother cant let go.

So sad. I was actually thinking just last week how Mike seemed to really be rehabilitating his image lately. I saw him recently on Jimmy Kimmel and he seemed really humble and talked like he realized how out of control and stupid he was. He was self-deprecating and funny and so was unlike the Tyson of old.
