There, I said it.

I saw a production of Swan Lake last week and was blown away by how beautiful it all was. Even if I found it dainty and didn't really understand everything (which means roughly 80-95% of the show) but it was still magnificent. The music, the choreography, lighting, costumes, dance moves, and so on; fantastic stuff. There's something nice about having the bad guy sporting a name like von Rothbart too.

The first one of you mutts that hates on ballet without checking it out in person first, well, that's alright because I was one of youse up until last week so I understand the underlying prejudice that floats around ballet.

When you really think about the amount of work that goes into a production of ballet, you'll find it to be staggering. I've done theater since I was a wee young lad and the amount of work that goes into that is a lot. Ballet is beyond that though.

what do a ballerina's toes look like? the dancing makes it seem like they have tiny beautiful feet, but maybe they look ravaged from the dancing....

Please put the bus directly above me.

When I was in High School there was a student produced ballet. They were using a guy from a local college who studied dance. A week before the performance he rolled his ankle. They asked me to step in and I did. I basically learned how to not hurt the girls by dropping them.

That is all.

I enjoy the fine arts, ballet too. I took an introductory course in ballet when I wanted to play football, I can still stand on the tips of my toes. It made me more flexible and I am glad to have taken it.

I wore sweats, did not participate in a show, and it was an introductory course. Ever date a ballerina, amazing legs, but when their calves are bigger than your's watch out.

I ran into one of the lead girls in DC for a convention years after and it was a torrid affair in a day. She has since married, but it was an odd connectiontion that played out. It was nothing that would have worked out but it was exactly what it was. She was interning for a congressperson and we bumped into each other on accident.

My mom took me to ballet and opera when I was a little kid. My sister was in ballet school, so I was exposed to to dance at an early age. We saw the Nutcracker every year.

Yeah I'd call my Mom the Nutcracker too if she emasculated me that way.
