I've been doing this for years now. If I'm writing something, eating something with a spoon or fork or just need to bathe my keyboard in light for a minute I navigate to the bright white Google homepage.

Does anyone else do this or at least use a mostly white page at their computer to illuminate things for a short time?

Nope
I switch on a light

I don't have a desk lamp so using Google to briefly illuminate my desk is quicker. If I need to see something for awhile I will of course turn on a light. But the bright white page is nice, quick light.

No.

My keyboard is illuminated.

Also, I own a lamp.

An illuminated keyboard is indeed fairly boss, I gotta get one of those.

But lamps are mad gay, yo. There's no room on my desk for it anyway.

How much could a desk lamp cost?

I do it too. I have a lamp too, but if its not on, I use google or any white page as a makeshift light. Who knew?

That's real nice, but I don't have a USB close to my desktop. And why would I need it? I have a 22" widescreen to display Google on.

This is the occasional go to if I need to write something down. I have a Saitek Eclipse II keyboard which lights up in purple, red, or blue.

I may have done the same.
However Google hasn't been my homepage for a long time.
I use something else with a light background now for a night light.

Thank God the voting booths in this place have shrouds to conceal my identity while I choose a candidate!
