View Full Version : Newest Glenn Beck inspired moron

A Long Island mother of three -- armed to the teeth with an assault rifle and shotgun -- was arrested for scouting out and taking pictures of an Air National Guard base in the Hamptons, authorities said.
Suffolk County Undersheriff Joseph Caracappa said Nancy Genovese, 53, of Quogue, was arrested for trespassing outside the Gabreskie Airport ANG facility Thursday night, and Homeland Security and the FBI are also investigating.
Caracappa said Genovese was taking photographs of the perimeter of the base. A search of her car uncovered an arsenal -- an XM-15 assault rifle, a shotgun and 500 rounds of ammunition.
It's all fun and games when you're just selling products to the people but it's getting over the line when you're facilitating their fantasies.

I dont watch glenn beck, did he tell people to start doing this?
He at some point began capitalizing on the fantasy world of the one world government conspiracy theory. He doesn't encourage people to go out and do violence, merely that their fantasies are in fact true and what their conspiracy says to do is right. He skirts the line nicely.

So your interpretation of Glenn Beck is responsible for what this lady did?
I'm not sure blaming one idiot for a bigger idiot's actions is an appropriate conclusion.

People are responsible for their own actions.
And is having two guns really "armed to the teeth"?

Glenn Beck wrote a book titled "Common Sense". He's an ass. He also has these worst case scenario shows that scare the bejesus out of dumb people. I can't agre With you more about him. I read the article and it said nothing about Glenn Beck, refering to him in this way is equally as assenine.

Right in the front of the book there is a statement with him saying that you should absolutely not use violence.
This lady is responsible for herself. No one told her to do that.

Absolutely she is responsible for herself.
However Beck is an irresponsible communicator, so people will naturally point a figure at him and say things like he "inspired" actions.

Glen Beck is an incindiary ass hat but he is not responsible for this wacko's actions.I find him to be comical. He's more like a SNL charicature of a right wing talk guy than the real thing.I have a hard time believing people can take him seriously. But they do.
glenn beck is not at fault in this case, but he is a danger to society.
someone really needs to find out where he lives and go to his house with a rifle, and convince him to stop suggesting people take drastic measures to bring about political objectives.
if someone did that they'd be a hero to the rest of the kids at school, and would be respected by their dad finally.

So you're saying that you should use violence to thwart someone's "proposal" of violence?
When did he say to use violence?

I can find more, but here you go:
He had some dude dress up like Thomas Paine, and with ominous music:
Your complacency will only aid and abet our national suicide. Remember, they wouldn’t dare bomb Pearl Harbor…but they did. They wouldn’t dare drive two planes in the World Trade Center…but they did. They wouldn’t dare pilot a plane through the most sophisticated air defenses in the world and crash into the Pentagon, but they did.
They wouldn’t dare pass the largest spending bill in history in open defiance of the will of the people, but they did.
It’s time to hoist this battle flag once again. Now is the right time to be a patriot. My name is Thomas Paine, I’m ready to take back America. Are you?

Missy, what I took from that was a rallying cry. For people to be more 'informed' and aware what is going on. Not to just sit idly by, but to stand up for things you believe in.
I did not think of harming anyone or anything by reading/hearing those remarks. Then again, if someone wants to cause harm he/she could use those words as a blessing for using violence. That person, however, was going to use violence regardless. People will find anything to justify it. I don't think people should police what they say because of some who aren't stable and don't understand that violence isn't the answer. Civil disobedience and the like are.

I don't think it's such a stretch to say that the last sentence was a call for violence. In fact, I think it's more of a stretch to say it's not. I don't blame Beck for what happened, however he's incredibly irresponsible and wreckless.

I have no idea who Glen Beck is but I know his entire shtick already. He is everything the right wing talk radio listener loves. He demonizes anyone who doesn't line up exactly with him, even people in his own party who he may have praised last week. He then creates fear in the listener by alerting them to an attack by "Libs" or whoever it needs to be at that point and keeps you tuned in through the commercial break to get the answer to the problem he presented. The answer is always to tune into the show to get the real truth and to vote for whoever is up for election at that moment and is close to his political affiliation. And it seems in this case the answer is also to consider taking up arms.
He's Rush, he's Hannity, he's Lavigne, he's Savage, he's all of them. I guess people will never tire from having someone fill their heads with this garbage.

It's so formulaic. They find a group/individual that has done something they disagree wtih, then build them up to be the great Satan. The ACLU, ACORN, the Clintons, the list goes on and on.

You can google what he's said in the past. If you believe the things Beck says you are living in an alternate reality. This is not just a republican spreading his opinions. Beck's show has as much reality in it as WWE.

If you've never watched him, then you shouldn't be so quick to defend him and anyone who follows his word.
My world is filled with good people and common sense, as much as it can be... his is a world of fear, that he most likely doesn't even believe himself, but he knows he can wrangle some good advertising dollars from people who do - people whose mindset is slightly off kilter if they believe the government will be putting them in interment camps when marshall law is declared and mad max motorcycle gangs are tearing apart our major cities. That is what he's preaching.

Yes, you took it as a rallying cry, but there are better ways to rally people than to draw parallels to the American Revolution against the British. Putting on a show that responsibly raises issues, ideas, and rallies support should not be pegged as policing what they say. There are others who take that rallying cry and say "shit, I need guns."
