My wifes family is old school Portuguese and they tell me of these kinds of "doctors" that are not real doctors, but they realign out of place twisted and strained bones and ligiments. They seem to hold these practicioners in high regard. My nieces husband fell off a ladder at work the other day and landed on his ankle, twisting it bad. He was taken to a hospital in Manhattan and they said nothing was broken but badly sprained. He was worried about being out of work and so the family took him to see one of these kinds of "doctors". The doctor is in Queens somewhere and is Spanish. The guy sees a handfull of patients a day, mainly Hispanics. They said you can hear people scream in agony as this guy does his thing. He will twist a towel up and have you bite down on it while the nurse holds you down and he manipulates the injured limb.
I hear these stories and know that people go, but I am curious as to what they are called so I can look into what's going on there. I'd never trust anyone like that, but I am curious.
Have you heard of this kind of thing? What's it called?
The guy that went apparently has huge swelling where this doctor did his whamajama. The doctor told him to stay off his feet for a few days. I have not heard yet how the guy feels now.

what kind of doctors? are we talking osteopaths? chiropractors? there's a difference. Chiropractors are "Doctors of Chiropractic" and they specialize in adjustment and manipulation of the spine. Osteopathic Physicians go to osteopathic school which has the same curriculum as medical school, but they get extra training in adjustment and manipulation of multiple bones and joints.

I'm on the internet right now trying to figure this one out...hang on.
Ok, there are a lot of things he could be...a "Curanderismo" is one of them...that's primarily a Mexican healing practice that deals with spirituality and includes muscle manipulation. If you could just find out what this person calls himself, I can narrow it down and give you the scoop.

see what you can find out, and we'll learn this one together.
