I have a HD flipcam that records videos as Mpeg4's. They play fine on my computer, but a friend is having trouble with those I've sent her. In iTunes, they stutter every couple of seconds, and in Windows Media she only gets audio. Any ideas?

Is she on a Mac or PC?

What do you play them through? Does she have the latest version of WMP?

I'm on a Mac and whenever I encounter difficulty playing a video of any kind, I use VLC.

It's never let me down yet.

No idea how well it works with Windows, but it's worth a shot.

The stuttering over iTunes sounds like a bandwidth versus compression issue. HDs are huge files, MPEG4 is a video compression standard. Likely the file is too lage or her connection is slow.

The WMP thing, I do not use WMP but it could be again the HD standard in MPEG4 format causing compatibility issues. Try either lower definition or a tighter compression. You will loose some quality but it will stream better.

Yeah, especially if she doesn't have separate memory for her video card or if it's an outdated video card.

Yeah, there's a good chance of that.

Same problem with VLC.

Is there any adjustment that can be made to deal with her video card?
