How did this Tucker Max movie ever get made?

As Max and one of his best friends are listed as the Executive Producers, I'm guessing they financed it themselves.

I think Max is a very talented writer. The problem is, he's just James Frey with a sense of humor.

The other problem is that the movie looks unfunny, and just a lame ripoff of The Hangover to anyone who is unfamiliar with his work - which is a pretty big audience.

I think Max is banking on this becoming a cult film on DVD, a la Clerks - it'll be lucky if it makes its money back.
