i searched for the can't+sleep thread that i post in for once a year but couldn't find it.

So those statistics factor in people who are far less experienced, who would presumably have a much higher death rate. (Just like the driving stats figure in teenagers and drunks)

It's always easy to manipulate statistics to make your point, especially when you're drawing stats from a skydiving website. Insurance actuary tables are a different story, and that's why they ask on forms if you skydive.

My point is, that when you have kids and you get older - especially when you have three kids - you start to stop the dangerous behavior. You know those heart med ads where the guy says "I can't believe I went skating here when I was a kid?" Something like that.

I don't know. I've never had the need to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Even more so now that I'm a dad.

My father was upper operational management for C&P (now Verizon), and my mother was an operator for AT&T. I can remember during one particularly large labor strike (late 70's or early 80's) how weird it was at home. Because of my dad's position, he was working nonstop, trying to keep things running. Mom (a Union rep), was not only on strike, but actually a major player in organizing the local strike actions. It was a crazy time, for sure in our household!

Though my father was pissed off about the 1984 breakup, I was kind of relieved. It meant Mom and Dad no longer had work conflicts.
