Special Needs is confusing because it used to be just the people with frail health who need special care. Then the autistic/retarded groups got upset because their afflictions were visible and received negative stereotypes, as a result the names of the afflictions - i.e. Retardation got negative connotations. So they decided to force everyone to say Special Needs instead.

Now it has become a problem because Special Needs (as Dave just demonstrated) became the same thing as Retarded used to be.

There is no escape. Either deal with the name you have or move to a place where no one can see the retarded kids and make fun of them.
