I can't stand it when I text someone and they call me instead of texting me back. If I wanted to talk to you, I would have called! I hate talking on the phone because it takes a zillion times longer than texting. Why do they do it? How can I stop them?

Simple.
Don't answer the call, then text them and say "Can't talk...in a meeting."

I know so many people who seem to get annoyed at the text and they call and ream me out for not calling instead. My logic is, if someone texts me that I don't want to text back, I am not going to waste my time calling them either. I just ignore it. I think that's what most people do. At work too, I will email someone within the company and 2 seconds later they call me, same shit. Pisses me off!

It's a thousand times better than the idiots who hold conversations at full volume while in a restaurant, on line in the bank, or while food shopping.
I text all the time, especially when I'm somewhere I don't want to disturb others.
It's far more thoughtful and discreet.
You can also answer texts at your leisure. It's not like a phone call where you have to answer right then and there. You can text back in 5 minutes.
Then they can text you back in 5 minutes.
Etc.

I like to dodge calls and then immediately send them a text in response to whatever voicemail they left.

That's what you get for asking questions all the time. No question, no call with the answer.
It's never been a problem for me.

If you text me a simple "yes or no" question, you'll get a text back.
But if you're one of these assholes who sends a message like, "Give me directions to your house"... fuck if I'm going to sit there and type all that shit out.

I like to text...my hearing ain't the greatest since I hit 30, so I'd rather a text back rather than asking them to repeat themselves a million times over the phone.

People might prefer calling because it's harder to be ignored when you're calling someone whereas it's all too easy to say "Meh, driving" or some other lame-good excuse for not responding in like fashion. Some people calling you might have been driving at the time they got your text, in which case they were being responsible drivers, sort of.
I know it's so fucking hard to be alive on this world and be acknowledged by your parents when you really want to think you're the A#1 hotshit up-and-coming Luke Skywalker of your generation, but sometimes you gotta deal with people calling you. There's no escape, nor should there be.
I really fucking hate it when people eat sardines or anchovies in the motherfucking breakroom tho.

Men just don't talk to each other for fear of realizing one of their penises is smaller.

I only ever call someone if i need to talk to them asap, otherwise I text.
I also used to hate whenever someone left me a voicemail. If you're calling from a blocked number, or my phone is off that's one thing. But if it's unrestricted or a cell phone I can see that you called!!! I used to hate it though. I just always found it annoying to check voicemails. But thanks to the iphone I now have visual voicemail & it's way quicker.

How does the visual voicemail work? Does it translate the message to text?
