Doubt it. Probably Eyre to start, then Madson for Jeter.

If they blow the save, pulling Victorino is going to look awful. If they lift Ibanez instead for Francisco (which they've done all year), all of those runs could have been wiped out last inning.

he doesnt even neccessarily have to be in the delivery. if you call time, you are not automatically granted it. its the umpire discretion, he does not have to grant time. if you dont hear him yell time, dont step out of the plate. its that simple.

No lead is really safe with the Philly BP..

Jeter wrecked this whole comeback.

He takes a 2-0 pitch dead center then swings at a ball that jams him.

Man, I said it: pitching AJ would be a bad move. Why force the short rest move if you're fucking up 3-1?!? Unless it's your ace and he looks good to go just throw out who you have and hope your stacked lineup scores enough runs. If not, oh well, you go back home still up 3-2 and your #2 and #3 guys will both be going on full rest. Now you need a 37-year-old to go the distance in the cold on short rest. That's not the recipe for success. CAPITALIZE, PHILLIES. Pedro, here's your shot to go out a god.

That said, tonight's game from both teams showed how managers can seriously fuck up their team's chances to win.

TripleSkeet
11-02-2009, 09:33 PM
Why should they? Their team got the job done. Talking shit is part of being a fan. Granted that some go too far, but when your team does well you talk shit.

Im sure Philly fans in game one were doing the same.

It was just a little jab at Snoogans. Its been said, the Yanks fans have been alot better then some of the Mets trash that come down here every summer.

Good game. These fuckers give me high blood pressure even when they win.

This is Pedros chance. Hopefully this time well jump on the shnoz and not let up.

I believe that I saw on ESPN this morning (or last night) that Pettite during his career did not do well (4-6 record and 4.15 ERA in 14 starts during the regular season) on short rest.

In the Postseason, however, out of 5 starts on short rest, he is 3-1 with a 2.80 ERA.

It's risky to base such deicisons on such a tiny sample size. Girardi simply did not make the decision that was best for his team.

I'm stressing big time about whether to try and buy tickets for Game 7 just in case.

On one hand, if StubHub is refundable if it doesn't get played, and if I wait until after Game 6, the tickets will all double in price.

On the other hand...five hundy for a baseball game is pretty steep, and with a three hour drive attached to boot...tough call.

Do it. Do you know how many people around the country will never have the chance to see their team in a WS game seven, let alone the Series at all?

I paid more than that just to see the Cubs at Wrigley in the NLDS last year, because I thought it might be a long time until the opportunity came back around or it might be the last postseason series at Wrigley (as we know it) ever.

I'm not sure pitching on 3 days rest makes a pitcher ineffective but it almost certainly impacts their stamina and velocity.

I think if anything it fucks up their routine. Alot of pitchers have very regimented routines on their off days and going on 3 days can fuck that up.

Francisco, Ruiz, Rollins in the 7th...they'll probably stick with Joba for the first two. If anyone gets on, I imagine Marte faces the top of the lineup.

Phils need to hold a couple innings to have a shot here. Someone needs a scoreless inning here.

So, if he wins a ring tonight but makes the playoffs the rest of his career and doesnt hit, hes still clutch b/c he did it one post season?

Yes. Because he has a ring. Players on a team who haven't won a ring are held to a higher standard than those who have.

The Core Four are basically untouchable. Jeter could rape Suzyn Waldman in the infield while Ryan Howard steals three bases and Francesa would complain about Jeter cumming on her face too soon.

Absaloutly.

He carried this team the first two rounds and had big hits this WS, one of them that gave them game 4 and made sure we clinch this in 6 instead of a crapshoot game 7.

Who ever does not think that is a moron.

I also want to point out that you are mixing your metaphors.

Peyton Manning was also considered unclutch in the playoffs until he won a ring and you never heard a fucking peep again.

Oh is that what I said? The Phillies were the better team? They shouldve won?
Pedro pitched great? I didnt say any of that.

Youre right. For a few minutes I forgot it was Andy Petitte was out there and thought Don Larsen was back pitching another perfect game.

Stop. He pitched ok, but his stuff was way off. He couldnt find the fucking strike zone. The Yankees hitters were on tonight. And I could count a ton of shit the Phillies did wrong.

Not just Francisco, but Rollins swinging at the first 2 pitches (both wouldve been balls) right after Petitte walked Ruiz. Victorino jumping out of the way of a pitch that wouldve hit him and put 2 on base for Utley not once but 3 times in the 9th. They made tons of mistakes, but the Yankees were the better team.

Just dont act like Girardi was some genius by starting Petitte because he pitched like Bob Gibson. He didnt. Anyone that knows baseball saw that tonight.

I agree. He was criticized for not trusting his 4th starter and going with 3 days rest for all his starters. Yea hindsights 20-20 but if Petitte lost tonight and CC lost Game 7, the entire city of NY (including thegamehhh) wouldve been calling out Girardi for being so dumb.

I agree that there were concerns. When I first heard they'd be rolling with three, it worried me. Not for the Twins series. But later in the playoffs. At the same time, I think the only one who concerned me was Burnett. I thought CC could handle it and I knew that Pettite could. Or, at least that Pettite could give a few solid innings.

It's like they don't remember how bad Torre was. At least Girardi was changing along with how the bullpen was pitching. Torre never would have stopped running Hughes and Coke out there.

I thought Girardi did a really good job outside of a couple games in the Angels series.

It's like they don't remember how bad Torre was. At least Girardi was changing along with how the bullpen was pitching. Torre never would have stopped running Hughes and Coke out there.

I thought Girardi did a really good job outside of a couple games in the Angels series.

i agree. its also pretty obvious that every manager has mis-steps throughout the season and Girardi certainly wasn't without his. but i thought he did a great job suring the regular season as well. if he didnt tone down CC and the rest of the staff in very early september they might not have been able to do what they did in the postseason with only 3 starters.
