Say what you will about Hannity, Lumbaugh, Beck I can't ever recall any of them coming up with a conspiracy theory or other bullshit that even comes close to the tripe spewed by Alex Jones. If anything you could liken him to Michael Moore since they both have a flair for the dramatic and tendency to make shit up.

He's got protection from the Rosicrucians.
Jones is a big backer of Jerome Corsi and goes in for lotsa that stuff about UFOs, as I recall.
He got another site called prisonplanet.com.
He's funny when he gets all excited about something like the story a few weeks ago about the 30,000 guilotines being brought into the U.S....

I don't think any TV or radio personality is honest about their beliefs. They may lean that way, but they all chase the ratings and publicity.
I do not for a second think that any of them would take a principled stand if it meant lower ratings or losing their show.

Beck will get as crazy as his ratings allow.
Someone without a corporate master can be a loon because their are no negative repercussions. If you are crazy enough you get publicity, e.g. Al Sharpton, if you are sane and rational you are marginalized, e.g. ?????.

I don't think they are all extreme. Beck is at one end on the right, while Rush is at the other. Beck is an insane lunatic who needed a gimmick, he choose "screaming paranoid lunatic."
Rush is a far right talker, but he stays somewhat safe and rational compared to Beck.

I agree there are loons on the left, being batshit crazy is not confined by ideology.
I agree with you on Limpbaugh, too, at least on his presentation. He's really sneaky about it though, especially on the racism stuff. More often than not what he'll do is skate close to the edge and stop, letting the listener fill in the racist comment Rush was about to make.

I don't think we should criticize them as much for being showmen as much as just pointing it out because they are all entertainers first, and this is showbiz.

Part of the genius of Limpbaugh is he has convinced several million people that they should trust him and only him for news. For about 30 years he has pushed this idea of "main stream media bias" in order to drive listeners to himself and they don't see the tactic for what it is - just a way to expand his audience by creating mistrust of other media outlets.
What he and Manatee and the rest do is blur the line between punditry and journalism to the point where their audiences really believe they are getting "news" instead of editorial opinion.

They have their audiences so trained they never notice the fact that all day every day, Limpbaugh, Manatee, LeFin, Ink-A-Gram and the rest verify story after story with articles from the very press they claim is unreliable!
Think about that.
All day every day you hear them using articles from the L.A. Times, Washington Post and N.Y. Times to support what they say, even though they constantly say those organizations do not give reliable information.....

I enjoy when they complain about Bono or some other entertainer taking a political stand. As if, Limbaugh is actually anything more than an entertainer himself.
And, I trust that Bono is acting less out of self-interest, whether or not if you agree with his views, I trust they are his actual opinions, while with Limbaugh, and especially Coulter (who I think plays her audience like a fiddle), I know their opinions are based on what will excite their callers, readers, viewers.

Funny stuff about Alex Jones:

http://perrylogan.org/AlexBleef.html

The following list is of beliefs which Alex Jones has explicitly or implicitly stated on his cable access show--sometimes many times.

Your cell phones are watching you every moment.
The main source of meat in North Korea is executed prisoners.
The government can control the weather. (All conspiracy guys believe this. What's the deal?)
Columbine was a government op.
The ruling elite of the world worship Moloch.
The secret rulers of the world can live forever.
There are live AIDS viruses in the corn.

My favorite:
The government keeps "giant, honeycombed hives full of toddlers drugged on lithium"

With everyone having a cell phone, I suppose it is easier to track where someone is.

I'm sure that people who believe in conspiracy theories are nice enough in person, but when you try to discuss or even dare to challenge what they've accepted as objective fact, they fall back on really childish debate methods. Like when they call people who more or less accept the generally known version a certain farm animal who Gvac would describe as a "hooray for me, fuck you" person.

It is very hard to debate anything with them since they view the absence of evidence as evidence itself. They think they need to only pick a few questionable points and then jump to a conclusion without filling in the space in between. You can't create a countertheory and expect it to be taken seriously if you can't back it up at all. The burden of proof is on them yet they constantly avoid that obligation.

The Replacements asked the hard questions years ago about these conspiracy theories:

Do we give it up?
Should we give it hell?
Are you makin' a fortune?
Or don't you wanna tell?
Should we give it up?

Unfortunately the only answer they got was a consistent, "I don't know".

Yeah that's what I usually listen too. Unfortunately Art Bell rarely does the show, if ever. It's been franchised out to a handful of hosts, most of whom blow large quantities of goat balls. George Noury, the main host, is decent, but for the most part the show has lost it's fun edge and often is about political stuff.

I agree with this. Texas gets a lot of shit from people, but I don't really think I'd fuck with them. They have a good economy and some strong people in their state.

So Texas secedes. Then the United States imposes an embargo on oil coming from them, or at least slaps excise taxes out the ass on them. Plus, the Border Patrol and DEA go away, so it's up to the Texas State Police to try to keep the Zetas out.

It'll be a third world shithole in 6 months. But there's no way in hell this is happening anyway: the "petition" was made by some douchebag in his basement, and Rick Perry, who's sucked up to secessionists before, wants nothing to do with this shit.

I'm always amazed how some people are perplexed by logical conclusions using history, current positions and overall feel for an area since the day this country was formred. You earn a change in perception, not inherit it bc you and 25% of the people there get hurt when it's brought to light. And most of those 25% are transplants from the Northeast, Mexico or anywhere else. Do you really think it's amazing that WF and Dude! are considered very racial in their reactions to everything, much less outright racist with their posts at times? And do you really think the ENTIRE SOUTHERN half of the country is painted with the same brush do to some fluke and or lack of reasons to this day?
