That's a ridiculous theory. How can they say that toilet paper is archaic, but then pry shit out of themselves with a metal scoop. I had an in depth conversation with some people about this, and I think I know the answer.
The shells are shown sitting on a metal table. I think they are buttons, and you press them. 1st to operate a bidet, 2nd to dry your ass, and 3rd to flush it. I didn't come up with the theory, but it's the one I believe.

And the Cheesy Gordita Crunch is God like in deliciousness. I always ask them to take it light on the sauce.

There are authentic latin places in JC to get GREAT food. We order from this one Dominican place and it's phenomenal. (Keep in mind Latin people are ordering too, as well as black and cracker-white like me!) Their empanadas are great. The thing is, the Taco Bell Gordita is on par with this Dominican place. We order from there if the guy we harass refuses to go to Taco Bell.

My roommate is from Ecuador. I'm EMBARRASSED to tell him how much I love the gordita.

He just laughs and calls me "blancita."
