White People Are Racist Around Other White People - Experiences

I wasn't sure what to title this thread, but this is something that's happened to me several times. I know there are some people on this board that scream racism doesn't exist, or it's overstated in society. However, there have been several times in my life that I've been in a group of ONLY white people and they have felt comfortable enough to be racist with me.

Has anyone else experienced this?

My most recent experience was a few nights ago. It was 2am in a Casino bar. It was just me and the bartender. We were talking about football and how great the Saints and Colts were playing. He said that he loved the '72 Dolphines. I told him I was more impressed with the Patriots because they won more games, since the Dolphins only had a 14 game regular season. He said, "but the Dolphins were the last great WHITE team".

I had never even thought about that, maybe it's a generational thing? I think I'm about 20 years younger than him.

Anyway, anyone else have experiences like this?

There's no doubt some people use it as a conversational crutch. It's amazing to me that someone would behave in such a manner, but I believe it's often the case.

I can only say that there have been times in my life where I've been around all white people and they've said racist things to me. This has never happened when any type of minority is present. Why is racism so uncomfortable to some people?
I believe everyone has some degree of racism within them and I am highly suspicious of people who claim not to.
Just because you can see a person and identify them with a race or can find humor in it, does not make you a bad person. What makes any person bad is treating people bad and hindering people or not giving peeople an opportunity based on it.
Be honest and admit that there are some things about some kinds of people that you dislike or find unusual or alien to you in some wayan and do not act like you are holier than thou and say you haven't a racist bone in your body.
Treat everyone the same and worthy of respect until they prove otherwise and you'll get though life fine.
