Yo, Doc -
When will the pain in my chest subside?
It has gotten better as time has gone on, but it has been about 6 months and I still feel the pain.

Costrochondritis is an inflammation of the joints in the chest wall, between the bones of the ribs and the cartilage of the same ribs. Wherever bone and cartilage meet, a "joint" is formed that can become inflammed. Costrochondritis causes pain in the chest that can be mistaken for other syndromes, like angina.

Costochondritis usually resolves on its own in around 12 weeks. Antiinflammatories are the mainstay of treatment for costochondritis.
good luck!

I actually had to go to Tampa General for it. Very intense pain and there was an auditory pop......Freaked the heck out of me. It did however teach me that if I ever wanted to get to the front of the line in the emergency room, all I have to do is complain of chest pains.
I got right in!!!!!
The pain is subsiding each day.

Just stop going there. Everything's too big, anyway. And they won't put your stuff in shopping bags when you check out.

My animal is in a lot of pain. Do you carry "veterinary" pain medicine?

You might have cracked your xiphoid instead, if there was a pop. The xyphoid ,like the sterno-costal joints , are cartilaginous( like almost all of your nose), and sometimes the cartilage can snap in the middle , instead of where it connects to the bone. That takes a bit longer to heal than the connection itself . But the same treatment , NSAIDS, like Motrin or Alleve, and heat to the area 6-10 x a day. Very rarely , a pop is caused by a pectoral tear, meaning the entire muscle group popped off the sternum, where it was attached. Still, same treatment . But refrain from heavy lifting or pulling.
